Frederica Von Stade & Jake Heggie Set for Dallas Opera's Titus Art Song Series

The Dallas Opera will present opera legend Frederica von Stade, mezzo-soprano, for another magnificent performance in The Robert E. and Jean Ann Titus Art Song Recital Series. The one-time-only recital will be presented Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at City Performance Hall (a 749-seat venue located at 2520 Flora Street in the Arts District, Dallas, TX 75201). Also featured at the exclusive event will be Jake Heggie, composer (Great Scott, Moby-Dick) and accomplished pianist, who has had a long-standing artistic collaboration with Miss von Stade.

Performance Update Announced for The MET Chamber Ensemble's Zankell Hall Show

  Carnegie Hall today announced an updated program and artist listing for The Met Chamber Ensemble's concert on Sunday, December 13 at 5:00 p.m. in Zankel Hall led by Artistic Director and Conductor James Levine. Pierre Boulez's Derive 1 replaces the previously announced Boulez work sur Incises on the program. In addition, Poulenc's Le Bal masque has been added to the program and will be sung by baritone John Moore. Messiaen's Quatuor pour la fin du temps concludes the program as previously announced.

Patricia Racette to Headline Chicago Opera Theater's February Double Bill

Chicago Opera Theater (COT) continues its 2015/16 season with a double bill featuring Francis Poulenc's emotional and passionate 'La Voix Humaine' and Giacomo Puccini's delightful 'Gianni Schicchi' at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance (205 E. Randolph St.) on Feb. 6 and 14. The operas will be directed by COT's Stefan Edlis and Gael Neeson General Director Andreas Mitisek and conducted by Ari Pelto.

?Named "Best Female Singer" at the 2014 International Opera Awards, German soprano Diana Damrau appears in recital with pianist Craig Rutenberg at Carnegie Hall on Sunday, December 6 at 2:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. Ms. Damrau and Mr. Rutenberg perform German lieder by Schubert and R. Strauss, French songs by Poulenc and Manuel Rosenthal, and Dvo?ak's Zigeunermelodien.

Chicago Opera Theater (COT) kicks its 2015/16 season off with the Chicago premiere of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's passionate story of love, power, bloody conspiracies and revenge, 'Lucio Silla' at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance (205. E. Randolph Drive) Sept. 26 - Oct. 4, 2015. Directed and designed by COT General Director Andreas Mitisek and conducted by the acclaimed Francesco Milioto, the opera, was written by the musical prodigy as a teenager for Milan's Teatro Regio Ducal in 1772.

LUCIO SILLA and More Set for Chicago Opera Theater's 42nd Season

Chicago Opera Theater's General Director Andreas Mitisek today announced plans for the company's 42nd season. Chicago Opera Theater(COT) is shifting from a calendar year season to the more common fall-through-spring theater season. Kicking off the new 2015/16 season will be the Chicagopremiere of Mozart's Lucio Silla. Written in 1772, it displays the mature talents of the 16-year old prodigy in a gripping story about love, conspiracies, and revenge. With its scintillating score and awe-inspiring arias, Silla will be performed September 26, 30 and October 2, 4, 2015.

Long Beach Opera's 2016 season has been announced and includes a new production of the 1974 version of Leonard Bernstein's comic operetta Candide, winner of four Tony Awards; the world premiere of Tobin Stokes' Fallujah, with a libretto by Iraqi-American Heather Raffo, based on the story of a US Marine and his experience during the Iraq war; Suzan Hanson starring in Francis Poulenc's La Voix Humaine (The Human Voice), a moving monodrama about unrequited love; and the West Coast premiere of the video-pop opera The News by Jacob TV – the Andy Warhol of new music.

 Ensemble ACJW, an inspirational collective of young professional musicians, performs a program of classical and contemporary works at the Greenwich Village club SubCulture on Friday, June 12 at 7:30 p.m. The program entitled "Balancing Act" includes music by Jennifer Higdon, Dvo?ak, Barber, Piazzolla, Webern, Poulenc, and David Lang - works that typify writing for winds, strings, and a delicate balance of those forces combined, and exemplify the collaborative elements inherent in Ensemble ACJW. The concert is their last performance of the season.
