The Garden Theatre (160 W Plant St.) is proud to present the classic rock opera, Jesus Christ Superstar, showing September 8 - October 1, 2017. This musical kicks off the Garden's 10th Anniversary 2017- 2018 Season. Jesus Christ Superstar is presented by Bob and Dianna Duffy. Experience a story of sinister betrayal, unfulfilled prophecies and a good dose of love twisted together in this operatic fairytale, featuring the characters you know - Rumpelstiltskin, Hansel & Gretel and The Evil Queen - in a way you've never seen them, accompanied by with the music of Lawrence & Fain, Schubert and Humperdinck, among many others.   

This month, Mad Cow Theatre will present two readings of Federico Garcia Lorca's La Casa de Bernarda Alba as part of it's Teatro Español program. 

Throughout all of human history, there has been something sexy and intoxicating about the fine line between good and evil; the dangerous desire to understand it, to conquer it, to control it. The Greater Orlando Actors' Theatre production of the musical JEKYLL & HYDE, running through Sunday, September 25th at the home of Central Florida Community Arts, ably captures the alluring sexuality of this temptation, but is never able to realize the innate danger that accompanies it.

EQUUS, presented and directed by Jeremy Seghers, now playing through July 24th at Orlando event site The Acre, is not a show that will appeal to everyone, as it treads not so lightly on a number of rather taboo issues. That being said, if your sensibilities are not easily rattled, the story of a startlingly damaged boy, performed in a unique theatrical venue, is a dramatic experience not to be missed.

No matter how you define the word, everyone is looking to find, maintain, or return to the 'home' that allows them to feel safe and loved and be the best version of themselves. In one way or another, all of the characters in Lin-Manuel Miranda's bi-lingual, hip-hop infused musical IN THE HEIGHTS, are striving to get 'home.' Set in Miranda's beloved New York City neighborhood of Washington Heights, this cutting-edge show won four Tony Awards in 2008, including Best Musical. Now, the Greater Orlando Actors Theater and Baggy Pants Theater have collaborated on the Central Florida premiere of this deceptively challenging show, running through June 14th at the Orlando Shakespeare Theatre. While this engaging production never achieves the crispness of the Broadway original, the heart and love that makes IN THE HEIGHTS special is evident from the first note; this passionate ensemble has created a work that should be the example for what Orlando's professional theatres strive to achieve in musical storytelling.
