In celebration of the production's 40th anniversary, and to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Sholom Aleichem's yahrzeit (annual anniversary of his death), the award-winning Rudie-DeCarlo-Weisman 'AUTHOR! AUTHOR! - an evening with SHOLOM ALEICHEM,' the longest running Jewish musical in L.A. theatre history (4½ years in its initial run), returns to Santa Monica Playhouse for a limited run tonight, May 7, through May 29, 2016.

A new batch of tickets are now on sale for the Off-Broadway premiere of Jerry Mayer's new comedy, 2 ACROSS, which began a open-ended engagement on November 14th at St. Luke's Theatre (308 West 46th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues). Emmy Award nominee Evelyn Rudie ("Eloise") directs a cast that stars Andrea McArdle and Kip Gilman. Tickets are now on sale through March 20th. Wednesday Matinees at 2pm have also been added to accommodate the demand.

ELOISE creator Hilary Knight caught up with Evelyn Rudie who created the role of ELOISE in 1956 on television's 'Playhouse 90.' It brought her critical acclaim and an Emmy nomination at age six-the first time a child actress was so honored. Santa Monica Playhouse presents Actor's Repertory Theatre (ART) in the return engagement of the 'dazzling' (Daily Bruin) original Jewish musical, BACKSTREET, a passionate and whimsical portrait of life, love, and loyalty played out by a family of Backstreet Ladies in a house of Jewish 'working girls' in the New York ghetto, circa 1905. This gem from the Playhouse Jewish Heritage Program by the creators of the immensely popular Sholom Aleichem quartet of plays - Author! Author!, Because of You, The Clown Prince and The Great Fair - and part of the ongoing Santa Monica Playhouse (SMP) 50th Anniversary Celebration of Theatre, opens May 15, 2010.
