Assassins is never less than engaging and interesting, for all its structural flaws. Worth the ticket price just to see the virtuosity of this super-talented cast.

The bent to film adaptions and Jukebox productions in new musical theatre does not fill everyone's hearts with joy. Where are the original narratives? But Cruel Intentions: The 90s Musical combines both of these elements with perfect pitch. It is pure nostalgia and escapism, the night of entertainment and fun that the world needs right now. Especially the 90s kids.

Historically, Richmond's Orange Tree Theatre was a well-known champion of new talent. Mayfly is based on the heartbreakingly short life cycle of a mayfly; a lifetime can happen in just one day. It is a grandiose idea and one that White makes a courageous and often very successful attempt to explore.

On Sunday 1 April, the West End's best talents joined forces for THE MUSICAL MARATHON at The Other Palace to support Paul Taylor-Mills' efforts in raising money for the Terrence Higgins Trust. Making the European premiere of Peter and the Starcatcher the not-panto Christmas show in Northampton's Royal Theatre may well have been an inspired move by the powers-that-be at Royal and Derngate. There are no soap stars, celebrities or Britain's Got Talent competitors here, but it does feel like it has some shared DNA with a pantomime. There's a dame - Michael Matus's Mrs Bumbrake; an evilly over-the-top baddie you can't take your eyes off in Greg Haiste's Lord Flashheart-eque Black Stache; and Evelyn Hoskins' Molly is practically a Principal Boy. And that's before you get to the fact that this is a prequel of sorts to Peter Pan. There's jokes about farts for children, about British colonialism for grown-ups and about Philip Glass for the geeks.
