THE ARTS EFFECT and their All-Girl Theater Company will return with SLUT THE PLAY in its first major New York run from January 28 through February 27, 2016 at Dixon Place (161A Chrystie Street).

This February, the universal language of the blues will wail out full and strong on the corner of Franklin and First in downtown Clarksville.  The scorching Tony-nominated musical revue BLUES IN THE NIGHT opens at the Roxy Regional Theatre on Friday, February 5, at 8pm.  In keeping with the theatre's traditional pay-what-you-can preview, all tickets not pre-sold at the regular ticket price will go on sale at 7:30pm that evening for a $5 minimum donation.

Thus, we are happy to present one of our most popular features: The Nashville Theater Calendar, a comprehensive - maybe even exhaustive (lord knows we're exhausted from putting it together, gathering all the info from all over the interwebs!) - listing of theatrical openings for the 2016 season. We'll update the calendar every Monday, clearing out the shows that have closed and adding additional information on the shows still to come.

THE ARTS EFFECT and has announced the addition of two performances of the new play NOW THAT WE'RE MEN, a companion piece to the previously-scheduled production of SLUT The Play at Dixon Place (161A Chrystie Street) from January 28 through February 27. While SLUT The Play from the All-Girl Theater Company deals with rape culture through the lives of teenage girls, NOW THAT WE'RE MEN serves as a thematic prequel from the male perspective. The second play, written and directed by Katie Cappiello and developed in collaboration with 15 to 18 year-old high school students, will be performed Saturday, February 6 at 1:00 PM and Tuesday, February 9 at 7:00 PM.

The critically acclaimed off-Broadway hit THE ABSOLUTE BRIGHTNESS OF LEONARD PELKEY, written by and starring James Lecesne, the writer of the Academy Award-winning film Trevor, begins a limited 23 performance engagement at the Kirk Douglas Theatre, tonight, January 13. The show runs through January 31, 2016 (press opening Thursday January 14).

Abingdon Theatre Company launches its new Master Class Series with THE SOLO STORY WORKSHOP, a three-day intensive workshop with award-winning writer and actor James Lecesne, to be held this weekend, December 11-13 at Abingdon Theatre Company (312 West 36th Street).

On stage, Ana Gasteyer made her triumphant Broadway debut as Columbia in The Rocky Horror Show.' Since then, Gasteyer earned raves as Elphaba in 'Wicked' on Broadway, and originated the role for the Chicago production, earning a Jefferson Award nomination. MCC Theater presents the New York premiere of John Pollono's LOST GIRLS. The production is directed by Jo Bonney who last collaborated with playwright John Pollono on MCC's critically acclaimed production of Small Engine Repair. LOST GIRLS opens tonight, November 9. It is scheduled through November 29, 2015.
