The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center has announced a national call for submissions for the 2016 National Playwrights Conference. Applicants may submit new plays for development through the Open Submissions Process beginning today through Friday, October 16.
Yale Repertory Theatre opens its 2015-16 season with the world premiere of INDECENT, a new play with music, written by Paula Vogel, created by Paula Vogel and Rebecca Taichman, and directed by Rebecca Taichman, at the University Theatre (222 York Street), October 2-24. Opening Night is Thursday, October 8. The world premiere of INDECENT is a co-production with La Jolla Playhouse, where it will play November 13-December 10.
Back by popular demand, The Book of Mormon has broken its own house record in Denver, CO for the week ending September 13 at the Ellie grossing $1,585,945.00 for a standard 8-performance week. The Book of Mormon first broke the record the week of August 16, 2015.
Hour by Hour: Susan Glaspell, is a staged reading event that will span 12 hours and celebrate the works of one of the most influential and overlooked figures of the modern American Theater, Susan Glaspell. In addition to the presentation of 10 of Ms. Glaspell's plays, audiences are also invited to attend discussions featuring preeminent scholars and speakers from the International Susan Glaspell Society.

The 2015-2016 Roundabout Underground production is Ugly Lies the Bone, a new play by Lindsey Ferrentino, directed by Patricia McGregor. Tweiss Productions and Nicholas James Opalenik/Event Horizon Productions will present a helluva show in Times Square this October, the original musical Hell's Belles, with book and lyrics by Bryan D. Leys and music by Steve Liebman. Hell's Belles will begin performances at The Elektra Theatre at The Times Square Arts Center (300 West 43rd Street) on October 3, opening October 24 for a limited run through December 27, 2015. The show features direction by John Znidarsic, music direction by Mary Feinsinger, and musical staging by Eugenio Contenti. Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts announced today two major corporate gifts. Tupperware Brands and Ravago Americas are both contributing $1 million on top of previous gifts. Naming rights were given to both companies with their initial gifts -- the Tupperware Brands Lobby is situated at the stage door lobby that welcomes artists, students and people doing business at the arts center. The Ravago Terrace Bar on Tier Three features a view of the Seneff Arts Plaza and the DeVos Family Room.
