Second Annual Play! in CT Fall Theatre Festival Set for October

By:

In celebration of the rich tapestry of theatre offered in the stage of Connecticut, the state's Flagship Producing Theatres and the Connecticut Office of Tourism will host the Second Annual Play! in CT Fall Theatre Festival, taking place the entire month of October.

The Play! in CT! Fall Theatre Festival offers theatre-lovers a chance to enjoy the state during one of its most beautiful seasons, and fill their time with food, drink, and the most exciting theatre in the country. By heading to the Play! in CT Fall Theatre Festival website www.playinct.org, theatregoers can book discounted tickets, check out hotels near each of the theatres and have access to some of the finest cuisine Connecticut has to offer. From great theatre, to conferences and talks, theatregoers can attend one show or six while enjoying special overnight packages and dining discounts.

Theatergoers will have a smorgasbord of offerings from which to select - from cutting edge new works, to adaptations of classics, to some of the most important plays ever written. With a full slate of comedies, dramas, and musicals to choose from, there is something for every theatergoer. The six participating theatres include the Westport Country Playhouse, Goodspeed Musicals, Hartford Stage, Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, Long Wharf Theatre, and Yale Repertory Theatre.

Connecticut boasts more theatres per capita than any other region outside major U. S. cities. Each theatre has its own unique mission, providing Connecticut theatregoers with a rich palette of intelligent and entertaining choices. Not only do Connecticut's regional theatres serve their local communities, offering actors both famous and lesser-known a place to practice their craft and providing jobs to artists and administrators from all over the region, they've become an important vein in the lifeblood of American theatre, routinely premiering works that become part of the nation's canon, staged in New York and beyond.

What perhaps might be the most important part of this initiative is the unique relationship the theatres enjoy. Certainly they are all collegial competitors. However, they've all worked together on projects both large and small. In short, Connecticut theatres have decided that they are stronger together than they are apart. And the Play! in CT Festival is one more example of that effort.
