If you disregard the Molotov cocktails which litter the set, then The Velocity of Autumn is a poignant comedy about a situation countless theatergoers can relate to. And yet the explosives that surround the set in Arena Stage's production of Eric Coble's terrific new play are symbolic reminders about just how hard the human spirit will fight to retain freedom, even as the human body confines us to a different fate.
With the official opening of Eric Coble's dangerous new play The Velocity of Autumn tonight, September 18 at 8:00 p.m. at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater, the occasion marks Artistic Director Molly Smith's 25th project to direct for Arena Stage and is the first of three projects she will direct in the 2013/14 season, including Kathleen Turner in Mother Courage and Her Children and the world premiere of Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Lawrence Wright's Camp David.Building on 15 years with the company, Smith is steadfast in her focus on American plays and artists.

The Silent Partner will be presented tonight, Monday, July 15th, 2013 at The Players Club: 16 Gramercy Park South, NYC. The evening begins with an open bar reception from 7pm - 8, followed by the 8 PM hybrid performance/reading of this rare play.
Clifford Odets' The Silent Partner, was originally written for production by The Group Theatre, but the company sadly closed its doors before the play was ever mounted. It was never published, and other than a 1972 Lee Strasberg helmed workshop at the Actors Studio, the play has been unseen for 75 years causing it to be the source of much speculation. Often referred to as a long-form version of Waiting for Lefty as it deals with striking workers, it is an entirely original and savagely poetic 3-Act tale that only Odets could tell.

Featuring world renowned musicians Tracy Stark, David Sillman, and Matt Wigton; guest starring local Eugene actress Peg Major and Oregon born TV/Film actor Josh Daugherty with a special cameo by Bill Furtick.

The Planet Connections Theatre Festivity Gala 'One Acts for a Cause' is set for tonight, June 16 at 7:30pm at the Alice Griffin Jewelbox Theatre in the Pershing Square Signature Center. The producers of the Tony Award-winning musical comedy Nice Work If You Can Get It have announced that the Broadway production will play its final performance today, June 15, 2013 after 27 previews and 478 regular performances at the Imperial Theatre (249 West 45th Street). The production began performances on March 29, 2012 and opened on Apr 24, 2012. A national tour will be launched in the 2014-2015 season.

NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT, the Tony Award-winning musical comedy starring two-time Tony Award-winner Matthew Broderick and Tony Award nominee Jessie Mueller, is now in its final two weeks of performances on Broadway. The final performance will be Saturday, June 15. NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT features music and lyrics by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin and a book by two-time Tony Award-winner Joe DiPietro, and is directed and choreographed by three-time Tony Award-winner Kathleen Marshall. After an extensive international search, The Little Orchestra Society is excited to announce the appointment of James Judd as its new Music Director, effective June 1st. Mr. Judd will work closely with The Little Orchestra Society's Executive Director Joanne Bernstein-Cohen and its Board to advance the Orchestra's mission of producing innovative and extraordinary classical music programming for audiences of all ages.
