Plays & Players and Power Street to Present Readings of NOGALAR, TO CATCH THE LIGHTNING and DARK MATTERS, June 2014

Plays & Players continues its collaboration with Power Street Theater Company with follow-up readings of El Nogalar by Tanya Saracho, Dark Matters by Oliver Mayer and To Catch the Lightning by Carmen Rivera. These three plays, representing 30/30/2, 30/30/3 and 30/30/4, were selected from a group of finalists chosen during the 30/30/1 full day event held with local theater and Latino community leaders in March, as part of a nation-wide event. The readings hope to serve as a further contribution to the already-growing conversation about the Latina/o voice and identity in the Philadelphia theater community.

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater Extends THE FEW Through 6/21

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater's Artistic Director David Van Asselt and Managing Director Brian Long have announced that following strong reviews, the New York premiere of The Few, written by Samuel D. Hunter (Backstage's 2014 Future Broadway Power List) and directed by Davis McCallum, will extend two weeks through Saturday, June 21 at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, 224 Waverly Place.

TCG Books Releases 100 (MONOLOGUES) by Eric Bogosian

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) is pleased to announce the publication of 100 (monologues) by Eric Bogosian. The book is a collection of Bogosian's acclaimed monologues, which were originally performed as part of his six Off-Broadway solo shows that premiered between 1980 and 2000.

Lebanese Theater Artist Rabih Mroue Return to the US with 33 RPM AND A FEW SECONDS Tonight

Asia Society, PEN World Voices Festival and Performance Space 122 present the New York City premiere of 33 RPM and a Few Seconds, a brave new work by Lebanese theater artists Rabih Mroue and Lina Saneh, as part of the 10th Annual PEN World Voices Festival. A multi-media theater performance devoid of actors, 33 RPM and a Few Seconds reconstructs the final moments of a life after the suicide of a young Lebanese man.

The Actors' Gang to Launch A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM International Tour this Summer; Tim Robbins to Direct

The Actors' Gang, the critically acclaimed Los Angeles based ensemble Theatre Company, will be heading overseas bringing William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by Academy Award winner Tim Robbins, to international audiences. The production will put on six performances in Beijing, China, June 10th - 15th at the National Centre for the Performing Arts, four performances in Shanghai, China, June 19th - 21st at the Daguan Theatre, Zendai Himalayas Art Center and four to six performances in Italy, June 28th - July 6th at the prestigious Spoleto Festival.

TCG to Publish 100 MONOLOGUES by Eric Bogosian, May 2014; Website Features Monologues Performed by NYC Actors

Next month TCG Publications will release 100 (Monologues), a collection of all of award-winning writer-actor Eric Bogosian's monologues from the series of acclaimed solo shows he wrote and starred in off-Broadway beginning in the mid '80's. The publication will include monologues by the three-time Obie Award and Drama Desk winner from his solo shows Drinking in America; Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll; Pounding Nails in the Floor with My Forehead, Wake Up and Smell The Coffee, FunHouse and Men Inside, as well as selections from his play Talk Radio

SEX, DRUGS, ROCK AND ROLL Opens 6/7 at Plays and Players

Like a hard rock track turned all the way up, this hilarious and riveting one-man tour de force about masculinity, capitalism, and the great American way explodes on to Plays & Players' stage. In a nonstop, 'brilliant' (New York Times) collection of monologues, characters from top to bottom of the eat-or-be-eaten food chain delve into all matters of adult behavior. After a lengthy run Off-Broadway in the 1990s, Obie Award winning playwright Eric Bogosian's creation is remounted with Philadelphia's own Eric Scotolati, bringing the era of cable, wall street, and 'just say no' perfectly back to life and reminding us how little things change about the larger issues that define our time.

Labyrinth Theater Company, the award-winning, downtown ensemble, announced today the initial lineup for Pulitzer Fest, a festival of play readings celebrating Pulitzer Prize-winning plays, featuring Labyrinth Theater Company Members and Guest Artists. Five plays will be presented over the course of one week, followed by additional free play readings on the weekend. The weekend schedule will be announced later this month. A post-show discussion with the playwright and a guest moderator will follow select readings for weekday performances. The plays will be presented at Labyrinth's home in New York City's West Village, the Bank Street Theater (155 Bank Street).
