TO KEEP THE LIGHT to Open 1st Annual NY Indie Theatre Film Festival

New Ohio Theatre has announced that To Keep The Light, Erica Fae's multiple award-winning feature length historical drama, will open the first annual New York Indie Theatre Film Festival, showcasing features, shorts, music videos, and web series created by theatre artists branching out into recorded media. To Keep The Light will screen on January 17, 2017; the festival continues through January 21.

STAGE TUBE: Rihanna Mash-Up Highlights Harlem Theatre Company's Commitment to Artists of Color

The Movement Theatre Company, a Harlem-based nonprofit committed to showcasing emerging artists of color, releases a music video mashup featuring Rihanna's "Work" and "This Is What You Came For." The Movement's Rihanna-inspired holiday music video is a festive ode to all the "work" the company has produced in its almost 10 years of existence and highlights plans for future events in the coming year. The new music video emphasizes the company's commitment to artists of color and support for local Harlem businesses. It also raises awareness about The Movement's #holiDONATE fundraising campaign, which is one part of a larger goal to raise $100,000 by the end of their season. There will be an exclusive viewing party/holiday fundraiser Monday, December 12th from 6:30-9:30pm at Nabe Underground.

Molly Beach Murphy, whose plays have been developed at New York Theatre Workshop, Williamstown Theatre Festival and Ars Nova and Loren Beri's new musical will be read and performed as a part of the NYMF Developmental Reading Series on July 12th, 16th, and 17th at Playwrights Horizons South Studio (416 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues), directed by Gabriel Vega Weissman and featuring Grace McLean (Natasha and Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812, Brooklynite) in the title role of "Neil deGrasse Tyson".

The Kitchen Presents AND THAT'S HOW THE RENT GETS PAID This Week

For the first time in two decades, The Kitchen will present a new edition of the acclaimed performance series And That's How the Rent Gets Paid, written by downtown legends Jeff Weiss and Richard C. Martinez. For three nights only (tonight, July 14, through July 16), Weiss and Martinez's thrilling serial drama, which follows a charming serial killer through the queer underbelly of New York City, will be brought to life by director and producer Brooke O'Harra with Kate Valk and Nicky Paraiso. The three-day marathon performance features an eclectic group of 50 performers including David Cale, Jennifer Miller, Keith McDermott, Becca Blackwell, Jess Barbagallo, Moe Angelos and Mark Bennett, among others. Weiss will appear in the production, in various cameo performances, throughout the three-day run.
