The Wallis Annenberg Theater for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills and The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) partner up to host a night for theater patrons and BAFTA members on Thursday, February 27 at 8 p.m. Following the performance of the UK's Kneehigh Theatre acclaimed production of Noel Coward's Brief Encounter at the Wallis Annenberg, a talkback featuring Emma Rice will be held.

Noel Coward's film Brief Encounter (1945) based on his 1936 play Still Life, is perhaps one of the finest movies ever made about illicit romance. Now the Kneehigh production from London, which played Broadway in 2010 to great acclaim, an event quite unlike any you will ever see, is being mounted at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts through March 23 with some of the original Broadway cast, including the remarkable Hannah Yelland as Laura. Wisely presented in one act without an interval, Brief Encounter never drags and retains a unique solidarity.

Tony nominated actress Hannah Yelland is about to make her Los Angeles debut in the stage version of Noel Coward's Brief Encounter, the role which garnered her a Tony nomination in 2011. The classically trained actress talks about the role and how she feels about opening in Los Angeles.

Berkeley Rep's Tristan & Yseult is one of those shows that combines the best elements of modern theatre with good old-fashioned storytelling and does so with amazing brilliance.

This morning, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, St. Ann's Warehouse Founder and Artistic Director Susan Feldman, St. Ann's Warehouse Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson, St. Ann's Warehouse Board Chair Joseph S. Steinberg, Brooklyn Bridge Park President Regina Myer, NYC Council Member Stephen Levin, State Senator Daniel Squadron and others broke ground at the Tobacco Warehouse in Brooklyn Bridge Park. The event signals the beginning of St. Ann's $27 million development of the historic building, originally constructed in 1861, into a 25,000 SF performing arts center and community hub on the Brooklyn waterfront. The Tobacco Warehouse will serve as a permanent home for St. Ann's, which has activated found spaces for cultural use in downtown Brooklyn since in 1980. The non-profit organization plans to present its opening season in the Brooklyn Bridge Park warehouse in Fall 2015.

The Shakespeare Theatre Company will present the international hit Brief Encounter as an addition to its STC Presentation Series. Based on the iconic 1945 movie and Noel Coward's play Still Life, Brief Encounter switches seamlessly between live theatre and projected film footage, taking audiences to a bygone age of romance and the silver screen. This Kneehigh U.K production has enjoyed success in England and New York with two nominations for Tony Awards (Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play and Best Sound Design of a Play). Adapted and directed by Emma Rice and originally commissioned and produced by David Pugh and Dafydd Rogers and Cineworld, Brief Encounter will run from March 29-April 13, 2014, at the Lansburgh Theatre (450 7th Street NW).
