Andrew Lippa and Brian Crawley's beloved musical, A Little Princess, is coming to 54 Below. The cast will include Abigail Shapiro (current star of Liberty: A Monumental New Musical, "Cindy Lou Who" in How The Grinch Stole Christmas) as Sara Crewe, composer Andrew Lippa (Big Fish, The Addams Family, I am Harvey Milk) as Miss Minchin, Emerson Steele (young "Violet" in Violet) as Becky, Alicia Hall Moran (The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess) as Aljana along with Paige Brady ("Matilda" in Matilda The Musical), Ava Ulloa ("Matilda" in Matilda The Musical), Mavis Simpson-Ernst (Evita), and Emma Howard (Matilda The Musical, Violet). Additional Broadway stars cast in the concert to be announced soon.

Thommie Retter, original Broadway cast member of Billy Elliot The Musical and Retter Entertainment provides unique opportunities for aspiring young performers through This Way To Broadway, a series of workshops culminating in showcase opportunities, including singing, acting, and dancing.

An NYC reading for the new musical CHASING RAINBOWS - THE ROAD TO OZ has been scheduled for this week in New York City, September 8-18. BroadwayWorld has learned that the reading will feature Ruby Rakos (Frances Gumm), Euan Morton (Frank Gumm / Roger Edens), Donna Lynne Champlin (Ethel Gumm), Michael Wartella (Joe Yule), Karen Mason (Kay Koverman), and Douglass Sills (George Jessel / L.B. Mayer), with Emily Rosenfeld, Beatice Tulchin, Emma Howard, Andrea Marie Laxton, Katie Wesler, Jessica Sheridan, Kevin B. McGlynn, Ben Crawford, Tommy Bracco, Sam Strassfeld, Katie Dixon, Tessa Grady, Jonalyn Saxer, Michael Milton, and Stephen Christopher Anthony.

Tiffany Schleigh just presented CABARET FOR A CAUSE, a one-night-only event to benefit kef productions and their education program, Story Shifters, on Monday night, August 11. Created in 2010, CABARET FOR A CAUSE brings together young performers from Broadway, film, and television to make a difference and change the lives of young people in need. Attention Dance Moms and Broadway Kids Fans! Cabaret for a Cause will present a one-night-only concert Aug. 11 at Brooklyn's Galapagos Arts Space to benefit kef productions and their education program, Story Shifters.

Camp Broadway's Original Summer Program for theater-loving kids, ages 10-17, began earlier this week and continues through Friday July 18, 2014. The week-long program will immerse campers in an authentic Broadway rehearsal process that culminates in a Family Finale presentation on Friday, July 18. Inspired by Broadway's cherished works and steeped in its grand traditions, Camp Broadway is designed to build confidence, inspire creative expression, and instill well-being in both aspiring artists and future audiences. The 6th Annual National High School Musical Awards presented the coveted Jimmy Award for Best Performance by an Actress and Best Performance by an Actor on Monday, June 30 at Broadway's Minskoff Theater, to Jai' Len Josey representing the Georgia High School Musical Theater Awards - Shuler Hensley Awards and Jonah Rawitz, representing the Illinois High School Musical Theater Awards. Just last night, May 12, Tiffany Schleigh presented Cabaret for a Cause, a one-night-only event to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The speial event was held at Galapagos Art Space and was dedicated to Shannon Tavarez (The Lion King) (January 20, 1999-November 1, 2010). A whopping eight of young talent super-agent Nancy Carson's kids appeared on David Letterman earlier this week, backing up Foster The People, performing 'Best Friend' from their new album 'Supermodel'.

Broadway Artists Alliance, a New York City-based musical theatre training program, kicked off their 10th season with a star-studded concert as part of the Broadway at Birdland concert series on Monday night. Performers, as well as instructors and alumni sang their all-time favorite show tunes. The cast included Laura Benanti (left, by Seth Walters), Jenn Colella, Andrea Burns, David Ayers, and Heather Parcells, who were joined by BAA Alumni Liz Byrne, Emma Howard, Kyle Taylor Parker, Ruby Rakos, Emerson Steele, Bethany Tesarck, and Clay Thomson. Proceeds from this event will benefit the BAA scholarship fund, which provides $10,000 in scholarships each year.
