El proximo 15 de octubre, LA CELIA llegara a los Teatros del Canal (Sala Verde). Escrito por Santiago Castelo, LA CELIA cuenta la historia de la joven que con apenas 21 años y luego de una corta temporada como cantante en el Teatro Maipo de Buenos Aires, llego en 1929 a España, acompañando a su padre a cobrar una herencia.

Trevore Ross stages this splendid revival of a production originally created by Spanish director Emilio Sagi for the Teatro Real in Madrid. Thanks to his stellar ensemble who do the lion's share of changing the sets while playing multiple roles, the opera is just as lovely to watch as it is to hear with the entire cast harmonizing spectacularly and playing their parts for all the laughs they can muster. THE BARBER OF SEVILLE is performed in Italian with simultaneous English translations projected over the stage.

Following on the heels of The Ghosts of Versailles, LA Opera presents Rossini's The Barber of Seville, the midpoint of its 2015 Figaro Trilogy and a key part of its three-month Figaro Unbound exploration. LA Opera Music Director James Conlon conducts an international roster of stars including Russian baritone Rodion Pogossov, American mezzo-soprano Elizabeth DeShong, American tenor René Barbera, Italian baritone Alessandro Corbelli and Icelandic bass Kristinn Sigmundsson.

Desde el día 31 de enero y hasta el 16 de febrero, el Teatro de la Zarzuela nos trae el musical Lady, be good! (en inglés con sobretítulos), de Guy Bolton y Fred Thompson y con música y letra de George Gershwin e Ira Gershwin, el cual vendrá acompañado por la opereta Luna de miel en el Cairo de José Muñoz Román con música de Francisco Alonso. Ambas obras cuentan con la dirección de Emilio Sagi y la dirección musical de Kevin Farrell.

La actriz Natalia Millán interpretará el papel protagonista de Hanna Glawari en la opereta 'La Viuda Alegre', que se representará del 13 al 24 de mayo de 2015 en el Teatro Arriaga de Bilbao. La producción estará dirigida por Emilio Sagi, y contará también en su reparto con Antonio Torres (Conde Danilo), José Manuel Díaz (Barón Mirko Zeta), Silvia Luchetti (Valencienne), Guido Balzaretti (Camille) y Enrique Viana (Njegus).

General Director Plácido Domingo announced LA Opera's 2014/15 season, created in collaboration with Music Director James Conlon and President and CEO Christopher Koelsch. The upcoming season will include six mainstage productions, with 41 performances at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Additional performances will take place in other venues through an expansion of the Company's Off Grand initiative. The season will open on September 13, 2014, and will run through June 14, 2015.

Donizetti's The Daughter of the Regiment tells the story of Marie, a tomboy forced against her will to become a lady. This light-hearted opera features a girl with a whole regiment full of fathers, some of the composer's most romantic music, a formidable grand dame duchess played by a man, and a tenor who hits nine high Cs in the space of one minute. Seattle Opera's production, set in the 1940s, opens tonight, October 19, and runs for seven performances through November 2.

Eli and Edythe Broad General DirectorPlácido Domingo announced that LA Opera's season-opening production ofCarmen on September 21, 2013, will be broadcast live on a special presentation of 'LA Opera on Air' on Classical KUSC 91.5fm. The performance, which Mr. Domingo will conduct, will feature Irish mezzo-soprano Patricia Bardon as Carmen, tenor Brandon Jovanovich as Don José, Italian bass-baritone Ildebrando D'Arcangelo as Escamillo and South African soprano Pretty Yende in her Company debut as Micaëla. The production, originally created by Spanish director Emilio Sagi and previously seen in Los Angeles in 2004 and 2008, will be directed by Trevore Ross.
Seattle Opera Announces 50th Anniversary Season

Seattle Opera today announced the company's 50th Anniversary Season. Performances of Wagner's Ring kick off the festivities this summer, followed by a subscription series of four operas. Starring singers beloved by the opera-goers of Seattle, the 2013/14 season offers subscribers a healthy variety of comedy and tragedy, reality and fantasy, in a mix of different musical styles and languages. Seattle Opera's anniversary celebration then climaxes in August 2014 with the International Wagner Competition and a special celebration honoring Speight Jenkins, the company's General Director since 1983.
