Sony Centre For The Performing Arts Begins 50th Anniversary Season, 10/1

Dan Brambilla, CEO of the Sony Centre For The Performing Arts, proudly announced details of the 2010-2011 season today. Following two years of renovations and restorations the Sony Centre For The Performing Arts will re-open its doors on Friday, October 1, 2010, exactly fifty years to the date of the first opening night performance, October 1, 1960.

On July 13, WaterTower Music will release the new live concert recording of Bugs Bunny at the Symphony, the eagerly-anticipated sequel to Bugs Bunny on Broadway, the record-setting orchestra-and-film concert that reinvented a new genre of symphony orchestra concert when it debuted in 1990.

The legendary career of stop-motion and visual effects pioneer Ray Harryhausen will be showcased in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' new summer exhibition 'The Fantastical Worlds of Ray Harryhausen,' opening to the public on Friday, May 14, in the Academy's Fourth Floor Gallery in Beverly Hills. Admission is free.

Coyote and many other iconic characters created or developed by Oscar-winning animator and humorist Chuck Jones (1912 - 2002) will be showcased in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' summer exhibition 'Chuck Jones: An Animator's Life From A to Z-Z-Z-Z,' opening to the public on Friday, May 14, in the Academy's Grand Lobby Gallery in Beverly Hills. Admission is free.
