Press Release: HYPE MAN at Duke City Repertory Theatre

American Repertory Theater at Harvard University (A.R.T.), under the leadership of Terrie and Bradley Bloom Artistic Director Diane Paulus and Executive Producer Diane Borger, announces the next event in the 2018/19 A.R.T. Breakout series: ANTHEM: An Evening with Justice Ameer and Chrysanthemum Tran. The debut two-woman show by Rhode Island-based poets and performers plays February 8 and 8PM and February 9 at 7PM at OBERON, located at 2 Arrow Street in Cambridge.

American Repertory Theater (A.R.T) at Harvard University, under the leadership of Terrie and Bradley Bloom Artistic Director Diane Paulus and Executive Producer Diane Borger, has released additional production photos of the acclaimed Oregon Shakespeare Festival production of Othello directed by Bill Rauch, playing now through February 9 at the Loeb Drama Center in Cambridge, MA.

San Francisco Playhouse announced casting for Lauren Yee's King of the Yees, headlined by Obie and Lucille Lortel Award-winning actor and San Francisco native Francis Jue. The play, centered on San Francisco's Chinatown, was inspired by Yee's family and their deep connections within the community. Joshua Kahan Brody will direct the Playhouse production.

William Shakespeare's enduring romantic tragedy, Romeo and Juliet comes to the Huntington Theatre Company as a thrillingly modern event helmed by Artistic Director Peter DuBois. Performances begin March 1 at the Avenue of the Arts / Huntington Avenue Theatre (264 Huntington Avenue, Boston) and will run through March 31. Tickets are now on sale to the general public.

The Christians is a play about a charismatic pastor who has had a revelation, that asks difficult questions about belief and faith, family and community, and the need for a place called Hell.

The Fountain Theatre opens its 2019 season of fresh, funny and meaningful new work with the West Coast premiereof an award-winning "break beat play" by Idris Goodwin. Social injustice, racial identity, gender inequity, career ambition and friendship converge - and collide - in Hype Man, directed by Deena Selenow. Opening night is set for a Feb. 23, with performances continuing through April 14. 

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (CSC), in collaboration with the Boston Lawyers' Chapter of the Federalist Society, are pleased to present its 16th annual Shakespeare and the Law series, focusing this winter on the subject of "Belief and the Burden of Proof" through the lens of Shakespeare's plays, directed by CSC's Associate Artistic Director Adam Sanders and produced by McCarter & English partner Daniel J. Kelly.

Boston Playwrights' Theatre (BPT) continues its 2018-19 season with Laughs in Spanish by Alexis Scheer. Running from February 21-March 3, this fast-paced new comedy is directed by Sara Katzoff.

Brandie Blaze and Optic Bloom will open. The show kicks off A.R.T.'s Spring 2019 Live @ OBERON line-up. Additional Live @ OBERON artists will be announced at a later date.

Company One Theatre (C1) launches its 20th season with the Boston premiere of Quiara Alegria Hudes and Erin McKeown's Miss You Like Hell, part of the American Repertory Theater's A.R.T. The 8th ANNUAL BOSTON ONE-MINUTE PLAY FESTIVAL (#1MPF) returns for its eighth year, in partnership with Boston Playwrights' Theatre. The marathon evening of one-minute plays by 60 established and emerging Boston area playwrights and directors plays three performances only. LAGUNA PLAYHOUSE presents the fourth show in its 98th season, four-time Emmy winner Michael Learned ('The Waltons') and Lance E.
