The Old Globe presents its third production of the 2014 Summer Season, Ronald Harwood's comedy Quartet, directed by Richard Seer (Other Desert Cities, God of Carnage, The Last Romance). Harwood received an Academy Award for his screenplay of The Pianist and was nominated for The Diving Bell and the Butterfly and The Dresser (also a hit on Broadway and the West End). Quartet will play in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, today, July 25 - August 24, 2014.

Gloucester Stage Company continues the 35th Anniversary Season tonight, July 11 with the Boston Area Premiere of Jack Neary's newest work, Auld Lang Syne featuring GSC favorites and real life husband and wife Richard Snee and Paula Plum directed by Douglas Lockwood. The comedy thriller runs from tonight, July 11 through July 27.

The Lyric Stage Company of Boston's 2014-15 Season begins September 5 with Stephen Sondheim's masterpiece SWEENEY TODD, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. The musical thriller runs September 5 through October 11, 2014. The opening is set for September 7 at 3 p.m.

For the seventh consecutive year, the National Endowment for the Arts, in partnership with Arts Midwest, has selected Actors' Shakespeare Project (ASP) to participate in Shakespeare in American Communities. ASP will receive a $25,000 grant to support performance-related educational activities around the company's first production, The Comedy of Errors (Directed by David R. Gammon; September 24 - October 19, 2014).

Tonight, May 24th, 2014, The Boston Teen Acting Troupe will present a World Premiere staged reading of ANNIE DOESN'T LIVE HERE by local playwright MJ Halberstadt. This reading will be produced, directed and acted entirely by teenagers. The reading will be directed by Jack Serio and performed in The Boston Center for The Arts Plaza Theatre. Admission will be free.

For the final show of the its 50th Anniversary Season, Hartford Stage will present Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike - the most popular play in America this year and the winner of the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play - from today, May 22 to June 15. The Boston Theater Critics' Association hosted the 32nd anniversary presentation of the Elliot Norton Awards last night at the Wheelock Family Theatre. Barely before people were in their seats, the tap dancing ensemble of Stoneham Theatre's THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, led by Ephie Aardema, shuffled, ball changed, and kicked off the festivities. An enthusiastic Joyce Kulhawik, President of the BTCA, took the podium as Master of Ceremonies to introduce a parade of fellow critics and past winners as presenters, as well as two more nominated musical performances later in the program.
