The world-premiere adaptation of LYSISTRATA by the renowned puppet artist, writer and director Theodora Skipitares - which mixes Aristophanes' ancient comic tale about a group of Greek women who withhold sex from their husbands and lovers with video and newsreel footage of actual modern-day international sex strikes -- will be presented by La MaMa ETC in association with Skysaver Productions, with previews starting February 3 prior to an official press opening February 6 at the Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 E. 4 St.) in Manhattan.

THE WALK ACROSS AMERICA FOR MOTHER EARTH - the newest work from Taylor Mac whose epic THE LILY'S REVENGE was a smash hit Off-Broadway last year - will be given its world-premiere in a production presented by La MaMa ETC in association with the renowned, Obie Award-winning theatre company The Talking Band, with previews beginning January 15, 2011 prior to its official opening night on Thursday, January 20 at the Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 E. 4 St.) in Manhattan. The January 15th and 16th preview performances are part of the Under the Radar Festival, with a special ticket price of $20.

Tony Award-winning playwright Edward Albee, Obie Award winner and founder of the Living Theatre Judith Malina, and director of the archives of La Mama Experimental Theater Ozzie Rodriguez, will join in a discussion with Village Voice theatre critic Michael Feingold on Sun., Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Provincetown Playhouse, 133 MacDougal Street.

T. Schreiber Studio (Artistic Director Terry Schreiber) announced today it will extend its critically acclaimed revival of Lanford Wilson's seminal play BALM IN GILEAD through Sunday, December 12.

The League of Professional Theatre Women presents its 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award, which honors women exhibiting exemplary service to the theatre, to two-time Tony Award®-winning actress/singer/dancer Chita Rivera. This virtuoso performance of Chopin's music by a virtuoso puppet troupe plays through November 7, performed by its original company and presented by La MaMa E.T.C. in association with The Polish Cultural Institute in New York. It is part of 'La MaMa Puppet Series IV-Built to Perform,' a festival dedicated to puppet artists from all over the world.

WAITING FOR THE DREAM ('En Attendant le Songe') -- an adaptation of William Shakespeare's A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM - will be performed by La Compagnie Irina Brook for a limited engagement November 3 to 7 at La MaMa ETC (74A E. 4 St.) in Manhattan. WAITING FOR THE DREAM is performed in French and English with subtitles.

To add a family theater component to 'La MaMa Puppet Series IV -- Built to Perform,' La MaMa will present Jane Catherine Shaw in a solo show of found object puppetry, 'Folk Tales of Asia and Africa,' from October 16 to November 7.
