Whole Backstage Theatre's Pride and Prejudice Closes

The Whole Backstage presents its winter season production of Pride and Prejudice through February 19 under the direction of Will Smith. Evening performances begin at 7:00 pm with Matinee's starting at 2:00 pm. This romantic comedy, by Jon Jory, based on Jane Austen's classic novel, is being directed by Will Smith of Guntersville, and features Jon Brown and Kayla Harper, both of Arab, in the lead roles. Ms. Harper is playing Elizabeth Bennet, the heroine on the story, while Mr. Brown portrays Mr. Darcy, her love interest.
Simon Van Booy Debuts First Play, HINDSIGHT, Opens 3/10

Simon Van Booy, winner of The Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award and author of the novel, Everything Beautiful Began After, joins The Drilling Company with the world premiere of his first play, "Hindsight" (previews beginning March 8 and opening on March 10, 2012).

The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities will hold auditions for the musical, Legally Blonde at the Arvada Center, April 5 and 6; and in New York City, April 9 -11. Legally Blonde will be directed by Gavin Mayer, with musical direction by David Nehls and choreography by Kitty Skillman Hilsabeck. The Arvada Center Artistic Producer is Rod A. Lansberry.

Bailey Hanks, who dazzled audiences as Elle Woods in 'Legally Blonde, The Musical' on Broadway will repeat the lead role in Diablo Theatre Company's production of the show in February. Hanks won the role in 'Legally Blonde, The Musical' after a nationwide search and audition process aired on MTV. She performed the show at Broadway's Palace Theatre until it closed in October of 2008.

Bailey Hanks, who dazzled audiences as Elle Woods in 'Legally Blonde, The Musical' on Broadway will repeat the lead role in Diablo Theatre Company's production of the show in February. 'This is a major coup for us and we couldn't be more excited to have a Broadway headliner like Bailey in our East Bay premiere of the high energy show,' said Daren A.C. Carollo, Diablo Theatre Company's Artistic Director. 'A grant from the Diablo Regional Arts Association helped make this a reality.'

Looking Glass Theatre Announces THE ANGEL PLAY

Looking Glass Theatre, celebrating almost 20 years of productions strengthening the voice of women in theater and the arts, will present the world premiere production of Bella Poynton's The Angel Play, directed by Amanda Thompson. The Angel Play opens Friday, March 16 and continues through Sunday, April 1 with performances Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. at Looking Glass Theatre, located at 422 West 57th Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues. Tickets are $18, general admission ($15 students/seniors) and available at www.lookingglasstheatrenyc.com. Group tickets also available. Running time is approximately 100 minutes with one intermission.
