Photo Flash: Original Star Laura Bell Bundy Visits RUTHLESS! Off-Broadway

Laura Bell Bundy, star of the original production of RUTHLESS!, checked out the new production this past Thursday, September 17th. Bundy played the lethally talented 8-year-old, Tina Denmark, in the original 1992 Off-Broadway production. Her two understudies during that yearlong run also did well for themselves in the intervening years; Britney Spears and Natalie Portman. Bundy was the first to lead the standing ovation at the end of Thursday's performance. Scroll down for photos!

Creative Cauldron to Open Season with New Revue WORLD GOES 'ROUND

Creative Cauldron will open its 2015-­?16 season with The World Goes 'Round, a musical revue of works by John Kander and Fred Ebb, one of the most prolific and acclaimed Broadway musical collaborators of all time. The production is directed by Matt Conner and choreographed by Kara-­?Tameika Watkins. "Audiences will be dazzled by the brilliance of Kander and Ebb," stated Conner. "The songs in this wonderful revue celebrate the resilience of the human heart on a revolving planet filled with love, pain, success and failure." Previews begin October 1st and the show continues at ArtSpace Falls Church (410 South Maple Avenue) through October 25th. A Season Opening Gala reception and performance will be held on Saturday, October 3rd beginning at 6:30 pm. Press Night is Sunday, October 4th at 7:00 pm

Chicago Opera Theater's LUCIO SILLA Begins 9/26

Chicago Opera Theater (COT) kicks its 2015/16 season off with the Chicago premiere of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's passionate story of love, power, bloody conspiracies and revenge, 'Lucio Silla' at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance (205. E. Randolph Drive) Sept. 26 - Oct. 4, 2015. Directed and designed by COT General Director Andreas Mitisek and conducted by the acclaimed Francesco Milioto, the opera, was written by the musical prodigy as a teenager for Milan's Teatro Regio Ducal in 1772.

The production begins tonight, September 16, with an opening slated for September 24, and runs through October 25, 2015.

En Garde Arts to Present BOSSS at Hudson River Park in October

This fall, En Garde Arts, the company founded and recently resurrected by pioneering theater producer Anne Hamburger, launches BOSSS (Big Outdoor Site-Specific Stuff), a new site-specific performance festival featuring new works by some of New York City's most promising emerging theatre artists. Hamburger has established BOSSS to give a rising generation of spirited artists a chance to 'think big' when creating new work, and to help them cultivate an audience spanning frequent theatergoers and people who rarely seek out live arts deliberately. Under her mentorship and guidance, teams of playwrights, directors, devisers, choreographers and designers are creating nine innovative works that En Garde will present throughout Hudson River Park, October 2 - 4. All performances are free of charge. (Tickets for the opening night gala, on board the Frying Pan at Pier 66, are $250 - $500.) Please see below for the lineup of artists and works.
