Lisa Smith Wengler Center for the Arts' 2016-17 Season Announced

 Multi-platinum-selling country artist Sara Evans, ukulele phenomenon Jake Shimabukuro, Grammy-nominated folk singer-songwriter Iris DeMent, Blues Hall of Famer Robert Cray, and the Nashville assemblage of high-dollar studio musicians The Time Jumpers, featuring Vince Gill, Kenny Sears, Ranger Doug Green, and Paul Franklin, are just a few of the artists set to appear at the Lisa Smith Wengler Center for the Arts at Pepperdine University during its 2016-2017 season.

Hartford Stage Announces Final Play of 2016-17 Season: Caryl Churchill's CLOUD 9

Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak and Managing Director Michael Stotts announced today that Hartford Stage's 2016-17 season will include Caryl Churchill's landmark play Cloud 9, a provocative and vital comedy that looks at the ever-changing world of sexual identity, directed by Elizabeth Williamson.

Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak and Managing Director Michael Stotts announced today that Hartford Stage's 2016-17 season will include Queens for a Year by T.D. Mitchell, The Piano Lesson by August Wilson, The Comedy of Errors by William Shakespeare and The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey by James Lecesne.

Bay City to Present CRAZY FOR YOU

Bay City Players will present CRAZY FOR YOU, THE NEW GERSHWIN MUSICAL, with Music and Lyrics by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin and Book by Ken Ludwig. Co-Conception by Ken Ludwig and Mike Ockrent.  Inspired by Material by Guy Bolton and John McGowan.  Originally produced on Broadway by Roger Horchow and Elizabeth Williams.

Seattle Opera receives $30,000 from National Endowment for the Arts

Seattle Opera has received a $30,000 grant from National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). The funds, in support of the February, 2016 production of Donizetti's Mary Stuart, are part of a larger $27.6 million that NEA is awarding to American arts groups in 2016.

Christopher Shinn's AN OPENING IN TIME Premieres at Hartford Stage Tonight

Hartford Stage presents the world premiere of AN OPENING IN TIME by Pulitzer Prize finalist and Connecticut native Christopher Shinn, with direction by Oliver Butler of The Debate Society, from tonight, September 17, through October 11, 2015. AN OPENING IN TIME's central Connecticut setting is inspired by Shinn's hometown of Wethersfield.

Hartford Stage Names Elizabeth Williamson New Associate Artistic Director

Hartford Stage Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak has promoted Elizabeth Williamson, currently Senior Dramaturg and Director of New Play Development for the Tony Award-winning theatre, to the position of Associate Artistic Director. She replaces Maxwell Williams, now Artistic Director of Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre in New Orleans.

Faith Prince, Christine Sherrill & Carmen Cusack Will Lead Broadway-Bound FIRST WIVES CLUB in Chicago

Producers Jonas Neilson, Paul Lambert and Elizabeth Williams announced today that they've found the founding members of the First Wives Club for the new Broadway-bound musical's premiere at Chicago's Oriental Theatre. Tony Award-winner Faith Prince will play 'Brenda,' Mamma Mia's Christine Sherrill will play 'Elise,' and Wicked star Carmen Cusack will play 'Annie,' in the iconic roles created on film by Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton, respectively.

The Rainbow Theatre Project Opens Second Season with Generation Q Staged Reading Series

The Rainbow Theatre Project launches their second season on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. with an evening of staged readings featuring David Csontos' My Night with Rock Hudson, paired with four plays, affectionately referred to as the "Betty & Veronica Plays," by Mary Steelsmith. This quartet includes Happy and Gay, Moon Dancers, Dancing with Ms. Liza and Dancing with Sherpas.
