Cleveland Play House (CPH) is proud to bring George Brant's Marie and Rosetta to the Allen Theatre stage. Marie and Rosetta chronicles the story of 2018 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Early Influence Inductee Sister Rosetta Tharpe and her counterpart Marie Knight as they changed the landscape of modern music. Miche Braden will make her return to Cleveland Play House as Sister Rosetta Tharpe alongside CPH newcomer Chaz Hodges as Marie Knight. Directed by Neil Pepe, Marie and Rosetta runs January 20 through February 11, 2018 in the Allen Theatre at Playhouse Square.

No matter how many viewings, there is something about the characters of these beloved Christmas programs that feels familiar and right. But have you ever wondered what happened to these larger than life characters after their time in the red and green spotlight? These are the questions that TheaterWorks in Hartford hilariously tackles in CHRISTMAS ON THE ROCKS.

Eddie Sanchez's award-winning play, UNMERCIFUL GOOD FORTUNE will be directed by Christopher Olsen and Rosalina Perales, first done in Puerto Rico last year, and now in New York at the Teatro Flamboyan at The Clemente Soto Velez Cultural & Educational Center in downtown Manhattan.

Primary Stages announced today that the Primary Stages 2017 Spring Fling will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Einhorn School of Performing Arts (ESPA) on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 6:00 pm. Beginning one week after the election, Primary Stages commissioned a collection of over 70 pieces written by a diverse array of playwrights from their artistic community. Each artist crafted a short monologue from the perspective of a character in America on the morning of November 9th.  Undertaking MORNING IN AMERICA acutely reflects the responsibility and capability of a non-profit, artist-focused organization to respond directly and rapidly to current events. Through readings, talk-backs and roundtable discussions, Primary Stages strives to create an accessible and energetic space where artists and audiences can come together as a community to share their stories and process their experiences.

Primary Stages has announced MORNING IN AMERICA, November 9, 9:00 AM - a series of one-minute monologues created by the Primary Stages community of playwrights in response to the 2016 election.

48Hours in… El Bronx is a collaborative experience presented in association with our colleagues from Harlem9, in which 30 invited artists - 6 Latino playwrights, along with 6 directors and 18 actors - are challenged to re-conceive notable events/experiences from The Bronx into six different ten-minute plays.

After six years, the producing collaborative Harlem9 has played to packed houses and won and picked up an OBIE award along the way in 2014. This December, as announced at the 6th Annual '48HOURS IN... HARLEM' - a twist on the traditional 24-hour play festival -  Harlem9,  in collaboration with Pregones Theater PRTT, a Latino arts organization in the Bronx will present '48HOURS IN… EL BRONX'.
