The Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art (HVCCA) in Peekskill, New York served up a gorgeous valentine with the launch of a year of exhibitions and education exploring the artistic representation of love beginning with LOVE: The First of the 7 Virtues which appropriately opened on Valentine's Day to an enthusiastic response from the community and the scores of attendees from New York City, New Jersey and Connecticut. And even more appropriately, its antithesis Seven Deadly Sins: Lust will open on April 19, 2015. Developed as an FWMA (Fairfield Westchester Museum Alliance) collaboration, each museum will explore a different sin and, in some instances, its parallel virtue.

Geoffrey Bradfield, Barbara and Donald Tober, Gillian and Sylvester Miniter, Eleanora and Michael Kennedy and Ambassador John Loeb and Sharon Handler Loeb co-hosted a special VIP Preview of acclaimed celebrity and society photographer Annie Watt's Impromptu Portraits at the prestigious Galerie Dumonteil on Park Avenueand 57th Street on Tuesday to benefit the American Heart Association. The incisive images of celebrities, political figures, designers and society's elite filled the walls of the elegant gallery. The images were presented in a variety of sizes and formats, classic 8 x 10, Oversize and snappy Polaroids and many were scooped up by the attendees.

Invitations to parties and galas at magnificent private homes in the Hamptons are always coveted but the hottest ducat last week was the lecture by architect, historian Gary Lawrance, co-author with Anne Surchin of Houses of the Hamptons: 1800-1930 held in one of the largest private residences ever built on the East End, Whitefield formerly known as The Orchard. Sponsored by the Southampton Historical Museum, the talk quickly sold out and several hundred guests filled the baronial music room at the sprawling estate. With its soaring, carved mahogany wood walls, coffered ceilings with hand painted embellishments and a fireplace that one could stand inside, the Music Room was the ideal setting for a discussion about the Gilded Age. Over 400 international collectors and prominent figures in art, fashion, beauty and finance flocked to have the first look at an extraordinary survey of four decades of work by famed photographer Robert Farber on Thursday January 30. The show Farberesque: From Pensive to Provocative at 3West57 Project presented by Cavalier Gallery is a fascinating overview of the vast body of work created by the iconic photographer who has influenced scores of the world's leading photographers with his painterly, impressionistic style that allows the viewer to see the subject from a different perspective by creating unique compositions . One of the world's largest collections of antique silver bookmarks from the collection of Myra Weiser was unveiled on Saturday November 30.at the historic Pelletreau Silversmith Shop, one of the five historic properties of the Southampton Historical Museum & Research Center.

The Southampton Historical Museum, under the direction of Executive Director Tom Edmonds with the backup of a committed Board of Trustees and a passionate new group of supporters has become a bustling arts center and become a jewel on the Hamptons cultural landscape. Southampton art dealer Arthur T. Kalaher presented a fascinating survey of the works of Russian-born painter and poet, Nahum Tschacbasov at the National Arts Club covering his work from the 1930s until his death in 1984. This is the first important survey of his works in almost three decades. The exhibition which runs until June 16 is presented in conjunction with the 11th Annual Russian Heritage month sponsored by the Russian American Foundation in cooperation with Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the New York Post.
