Thus, we are happy to present the return of one our most popular features: The Nashville Theater Calendar, a comprehensive - maybe even exhaustive (lord knows we're exhausted from putting it together, gathering all the info from all over the interwebs!) - listing of theatrical openings for the 2015/16 season. We'll update the calendar every Monday, clearing out the shows that have closed and adding additional information on the shows still to come. Something's missing? The Dio - Dining & Entertainment is excited to announce their 2016 theatre season which includes two plays, three musicals, and a South East Michigan professional premiere!
The Morris Museum launches its fall 2015 season of Adult Programs with an engaging array of concerts, lectures and films. The September and October line-up includes a film screening and discussion of the PBS documentary 'Latino Americans: 500 Years of History' on September 26 and October 3, a Guinness Collection Piano Concert on September 27, and a jazz concert by the Beacon Hill All-Stars on October 5. Also on the schedule is a Latino Cultural Day on October 10, a lecture on Gustav Stickley on October 14, and a performance by the Rondi Charleston Jazz Band on October 19.
The Vagabond Players is now presenting the larger than real life comedy, Greater Tuna for just two more weekends, September 18-27. Written by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard and directed by Anthony Lane Hinkle, this production is lauded as a super, never-stop-laughing comedy. Best of all there is a special $10 Thursday performance on September 24 at 8:00pm.

Middlebury Actors Workshop, a small professional ensemble in residence at Town Hall Theater, announces its 15th Anniversary summer production of Greater Tuna, starring founding members Steve Small and Harry McEnerny. The production will run tonight, July 23 - 26 & July 30 - Aug. 2 at A.R.T.'s black box theater.
Here's some unsolicited career advice for those of you who might be considering relocating to Tuna, the third smallest town in Texas: Tunanians - or Tunaites or however they refer to themselves - are sorely in need of a good beauty operator to help them keep their unruly wigs in shipshape, Bristol fashion. What with all the civic events, out-of-town trips and local affairs, every woman in Tuna should want their coiffures to be dazzling creations of the beauticians' trade.

There are four new shows opening in the Middle Tennessee area this weekend, along with several other shows continuing their runs - Nobody's Perfect at Chaffin's Barn, KB Productions' The Trials and Tribulations of a Trailer Trash Housewife, Mary Poppins and Smoke on the Mountain at Cumberland County Playhouse, along with the final performance of Singin' in the Rain - so there's plenty of theater to keep you entertained through a hot July weekend. Can you believe that it's already time to celebrate Independence Day - aka The Fourth of July - with the biggest-in-the-country fireworks display right here in Music City USA? We know how to celebrate America's Independence right here in Nashville and we expect even more tourists (playwright/actor/director/producer/bon vivant Del Shores is in town, for example, to get a taste of a down-home good time) than normal to fill our city's streets over the four-day holiday weekend.
Playhouse Merced's 2014-2015 Season closes with laughter as it presents four comedies over the course of four consecutive days. Two actors will attempt to perform over 30 different characters as they mount The Greater Tuna Quadrilogy: Greater Tuna, Tuna Christmas, Red, White and Tuna and Tuna Does Vegas, all written by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard. Each show will be featured on a different day, and this epic multi-character extravaganza will be one of the only times nationally this has been attempted.
