Akashic Books is throwing two great events happening next week in NYC to celebrate the release of We Do! andUSA Noir.

Empire State Pride Agenda's 22nd Annual Fall Dinner is set for Thursday, October 17, 2013. The premier LGBT event of theyear will be hosted by Kinky Boots Tony-Award winning star Billy Porter. Honorees include Roberta A. Kaplan, lawyer for Edie Windsor in DOMA case, and Evan Wolfson, Founder and President, Freedom to Marry.

The next edition of the award-winning program MetroFocus premieres in the New York metro area tonight, August 7 at 7:30 p.m. on WLIW21 and Thursday, August 8 at 8:30 p.m. on THIRTEEN and at 10:30 p.m. on NJTV.

The next edition of MetroFocus features the campaign to bring marriage equality to New Jersey and what New York activists plan next to make same sex marriage the law of all fifty states.

The Off Broadway production of Standing On Ceremony kicked off its open-ended run on November 7, and featured an introduction from EVan Wolfson, Founder and President of Freedom to Marry. Today the American Foundation for Equal Rights, in partnership with Broadway Impact, announce the complete cast and roles for the highly anticipated one-night only staged reading of '8,' a new play chronicling the historic trial in the federal legal challenge to California's Proposition 8. The play is written by AFER Founding Board Member and Academy Award-winning writer Dustin Lance Black and will be directed by two-time Tony Award-winning actor and director Joe Mantello.
