HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK: Holland Taylor takes a bow, Broadway gets Miscast, PHANTOM gets a new Chrsitine, and so much more!

Transport Group, the Drama Desk and OBIE award-winning theatre company, has announced that the New York premiere of a new musical, The Memory Show, book and lyrics by Sara Cooper; music by Zach Redler; directed by Joe Calarco, will begin performances Tuesday, April 16, at 7pm at The Duke on 42nd Street, a New 42nd Street project, at 229 West 42nd Street. The Memory Show features Catherine Cox and Leslie Kritzer. Opening night is scheduled for Tuesday, April 30 at 7pm.

The production will begin previews on Thursday, March 21 and open on Monday, April 15 at the Lyceum Theatre (149 West 45 Street). SISTER ACT, the family friendly, over the top spectacle with nuns that rock, opens at the Academy of Music on April 2 - 7 for a limited engagement as part of the Broadway Season, presented by The Kimmel Center and The Shubert Organization. The press opening is Tuesday, April 2 at 7:30 pm.

Anyone who's been reading my column knows that my daughter HATES princesses. I don't blame her. The Disney merchandising machine has taken over most kids' lives to the point where it's often impossible to procure a toddler spoon or potty seat that doesn't have an Arielle or Sleeping Beauty theme. Either that or Dora. And I don't want to see either one of those chicks on my kid's potty seat. No offense.

At last night's Theatre Development Fund Gala, they celebrated the 40th Anniversary of TDF's TKTS Booth in Times Square - which first opened on June 25, 1973, and honoring The Shubert Organization's Chairman and Co-CEO, PHILIP J. SMITH who was involved with the founding of TKTS.
