Playwrights Horizons announced today the promotion of the theater company's Director of New Play Development Adam Greenfield to Associate Artistic Director. This is the first major change to the Artistic leadership of the acclaimed organization since Mr. Sanford was promoted from the same associate position to become Artistic Director in 1996.

Happy New Year! Cinnabar Theater, the beloved professional theater in Sonoma County, kicks off 2015 with two extended shows. Edith Piaf: Beneath Paris Skies made its world premiere on New Year's Eve and has proven so popular that it's added an extra week. Cinnabar's next show, I Am My Own Wife, won't even open until February 6 -- but tickets are selling so fast that it's been extended as well!

Today in 2008, The Little Mermaid opened at the Lunt Fontanne Theatre, where it ran for 685 performances. The Little Mermaid is based on the animated 1989 Disney film of the same name and the classic story of The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen. The musical's book is by Doug Wright, music by Alan Menken and lyrics by the late Howard Ashman (written for the film) and new lyrics by Glenn Slater. The musical had a pre-Broadway tryout in Denver, Colorado in July through early September 2007. The original cast featured Sierra Boggess in the title role of Ariel, Sean Palmer as Prince Eric, Brian D'Addario and Trevor Braun alternate as Flounder, Norm Lewis as King Triton, Sherie Rene Scott as Ursula, Tituss Burgess as Sebastian, Tyler Maynard as Flotsam, Derrick Baskin as Jetsam, Jonathan Freeman as Grimsby, and John Treacy Egan as Chef Louis.

The BLUEBARN Theatre will present the regional premiere of Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays written by an A-list lineup of writers including Mo Gaffney, Jordan Harrison, Moise?s Kaufman, Neil LaBute, Wendy MacLeod, Jose? Rivera, Paul Rudnick, and Doug Wright; Conceived by Brian Shnipper. The play runs January 8-17, 2015.

A Jewish Theater Company and New York's first one dedicated to Sabbath-observant artists, will present A DYBBUK FOR TWO PEOPLE, Bruce Myers's acclaimed two person adaptation of S. Ansky's classic Jewish play THE DYBBUK directed by 24/6's Co-Founding Artistic Director, Yoni Oppenheim. The production will play on December 28th at 3:00 pm, at the JCC in Manhattan, 334 Amsterdam Avenue at 76th Street New York, NY 10023. The Jewish Channel will broadcast a special 40-minute edition of its theater-oriented monthly TV show, "Row J," to begin airing on demand on Tuesday, December 16. Row J" is hosted by TJC correspondent Meredith Ganzman.

Bay Street Theater has announced one of the three productions planned for the 2015 Mainstage Season. The season begins on May 26 and runs through August 30. The third production of the summer will be the musical GREY GARDENS, running from July 28 - August 30, with book by Doug Wright, music by Scott Frankel, and lyrics by Michael Korie. Casting and the creative team will be announced soon. New Hampshire Theatre Project's 26th season continues with I Am My Own Wife, an extraordinary one-man show starring award-winning actor CJ Lewis.

Kansas City Repertory Theatre continues its 50th anniversary celebration with the return of David Sedaris' The Santaland Diaries, directed by Kansas City Repertory Theatre Artistic Director Eric Rosen. This hilarious send-up of David Sedaris' tale of elfin' woe in his brief, misguided career as a Macy's elf, skewers the sentimental love of all things Christmas. This show will feature Brian Sills, who starred in last year's production as Crumpet, the disgruntled Macy's holiday elf. Shanna Jones, whom audiences saw open the production last year as one half of The Shenanigans, will perform holiday musical numbers during the performance. Performances run December 6 through 24 at KC Rep's downtown Copaken Stage in the Power & Light District. Press night is Thursday, December 11, 7pm curtain. Trustus Theatre will start the new year in the Richard and Debbie Cohn Trustus Side Door Theatre on January 3rd at 8:00pm with a collection of topical plays by some of America's most acclaimed playwrights: Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays. With marriage laws changing in South Carolina, this production will stand as a powerfully relevant piece in the intimate 50-seat theatre.
