MTC's MURDER BALLAD, Featuring Karen Olivo, Will Swenson and More, Extends Through 12/2

Manhattan Theatre Club has announced that due to overwhelming demand, MURDER BALLAD, the new musical that is the inaugural production of MTC's The Studio at Stage II - Harold and Mimi Steinberg New Play Series at New York City Center - Stage II (131 West 55th Street) will extend by one week through Sunday, December 2.

Gotham Arts Exchange Presents 2nd Annual FOCUS DANCE, 1/8-13

FOCUS DANCE is a part of FOCUS 2013, the National Platform to promote American dance both abroad and nationally. The week-long platform presents performances of U.S.-based dance companies during the annual Arts Presenters Conference in New York City, and one of the largest gatherings of artists, dancers and dance professionals in the U.S. From January 8-14, 2013, four venues partner with Gotham Arts Exchange to present the artistic visions of five curators gathered to shape this year's edition:

Karen Olivo, Will Swenson, Rebecca Naomi Jones, John Ellison Conlee Set to Lead MTC's MURDER BALLAD; Opens November 15

Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director), Barry Grove (Executive Producer), and Mandy Greenfield (Artistic Producer) have just announced full casting for the upcoming world premiere of MURDER BALLAD, the new musical by Julia Jordan and Juliana Nash, directed by Trip Cullman. MURDER BALLAD is the inaugural production of MTC's The Studio at Stage II - Harold and Mimi Steinberg New Play Series at New York City Center - Stage II (131 West 55th Street). MURDER BALLAD will play a limited four-week engagement with previews beginning Tuesday, October 30 and opening Thursday, November 15.

Vassar Powerhouse's MURDER BALLAD Plays Added Workshop Performance Tonight, 7/29

Due to popular demand Vassar & New York Stage and Film's Powerhouse Theater is adding an additional workshop performance tonight, July 29 at 7:30pm of the new indie rock musical Murder Ballad by Julia Jordan & Juliana Nash, directed by Trip Cullman. The cast features Tony nominees Daniel Breaker (Passing Strange; Shrek: The Musical) and Will Swenson (Hair; Priscilla Queen of the Desert) as well as Dee Roscioli (Wicked) and Rebecca Naomi Jones (American Idiot; Passing Strange).

Vassar & New York Stage and Film present the 28th Powerhouse Theater season workshop MURDER BALLAD, starring Tony nominees Daniel Breaker (Passing Strange; Shrek: The Musical) and Will Swenson (Hair; Priscilla Queen of the Desert) as well as Dee Roscioli (Wicked) and Rebecca Naomi Jones (American Idiot; Passing Strange). The indie rock musical Murder Ballad is written by award-winning playwright Julia Jordan (Tatjana in Color; Sarah, Plain and Tall) and Juliana Nash (frontwoman for the indie rock band Talking to Animals), directed by Trip Cullman (Lonely, I'm Not; Assistance; A Small Fire). Aquila Theatre's MACBETH Opens Wednesday

AQUILA THEATRE (Peter Meineck, Artistic Director) will present the New York Premiere of their production of William Shakespeare's Macbeth, designed and directed by Desiree Sanchez featuring Rachael Barrington (Lady Macduff/Rosse/Servant), Janet Dunson (Witch 3/Ensemble), Peter F. Gardiner (Banquo/Captain/Cathness/Porter/Messenger/Murderer 2) James Hogg (Banquo/Captain/Porter/Messenger/Murderer 2/Doctor), James Lavender (Macduff /Duncan/Murderer 1), Alexandra Milne (Witch/Ensemble), Guy Oliver-Watts (Macbeth), Rebecca Reaney (Lady Macbeth/Boy) and Mary Werntz (Witch/Ensemble), opening Wednesday, April 25th. This limited engagement continues through May 6th only.

Keigwin + Company to Present Two Dance Premiers at Joyce Theater, 6/12-6/17

Keigwin + Company (K+C) returns to The Joyce Theater, 175 Eighth Avenue, NYC, for its annual weeklong season including the World Premieres of two new dances on June 12- 17, 2012. Performances: Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:30pm; Thursday through Saturday at 8pm; Sunday at 2pm & 7:30pm. Tickets are $10-$49 and can be purchased at JoyceCharge at 212-242-0800 or joyce.org. Guy Oliver-Watts to Lead Aquila Theatre's MACBETH

Wolf Trap Announces Retirement of President and CEO Terrence D. Jones in 2012

Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts announced today that President and CEO Terrence D. Jones will retire at the end of 2012 following 17 years of service leading the not for profit arts and education organization. Jones joined Wolf Trap in 1996 and during his tenure, has positioned the organization as a premier center for the integration of performing arts, education, technology, and environmental sustainability. Under Jones' leadership Wolf Trap has continued in the legacy of its founder, Catherine Filene Shouse, and has achieved numerous milestones and gained recognition as a top performing arts center.
