Casebolt and Smith is a duet dance theatre company (made up of Liz Casebolt and my former dance professor, Joel Smith) hailing from sunny Los Angeles. They performed O(h) as part of the 92nd Street Y's Harkness Dance Festival, 'Stripped/Dressed,' curated by fellow choreographer, Doug Varone. A single word (or rather, an exclamation) with befuddling parentheses around the 'h,' O(h) is a work that incites audiences to rethink what they already think they know about dance.

Chicago Opera Theater will dive into the pool again for a remount of its highly successful production of Ricky Ian Gordon's Orpheus & Euridice in partnership with the Chicago Park District in collaboration with the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events as part of the Classics in the Parks series. Following the sold-out run of four performances at the Eckhart Park Pool in the West Town neighborhood in early November, COT will bring three additional performances to Lincoln Square on December 19, 20, and 22 at the Welles Park Pool. Tickets will once again be free to the public.

The successful annual program aims to bridge the gap between the artist and the viewer by offering educational opportunities on the choreographic process and by providing an interactive experience in which the audience is encouraged to engage with dance making firsthand.

Making their first appearance in Purchase since their still-talked-about 2010 performance, the Martha Graham Dance Company will take the stage of the Concert Hall at The Performing Arts Center, Purchase College (SUNY) in Purchase, New York on Saturday, October 19, at 8pm, with a program of classic works choreographed by the legendary Martha Graham as well as pieces that are more recent additions to their repertoire.

Stephen Pier has achieved a uniquely rich and varied career as a dancer, teacher, and choreographer. His credits as a performer include many years with the Jose Limon Dance Company where the New York press hailed him as '...one of the most gifted dancers on the modern dance scene today.' He went on to become a leading soloist with the Hamburg Ballet in Germany, performing the title roles in John Neumeier's Othello and Saint Matthew's Passion, and creating numerous other major roles during his nine years with the company. As a member of the Royal Danish Ballet for six years, Mr. Pier had the privilege of dancing leading roles in works of Bournonville, Balanchine, MacMillan, Bejart, and collaborating with many of Europe's finest contemporary choreographers.
Joseph V. Melillo, executive producer of the Brooklyn Academy Of Music, presents the 2013 Next Wave Festival.
