Gypsy is now playing in Signature's MAX Theatre. The production runs through January 26, 2014. Directed by Signature Artistic Associate Joe Calarco (Shakespeare's R&J, God of Carnage, Urinetown), Gypsy stars Sherri L. Edelen (The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Company, Hairspray) as the iconic Momma Rose, in one of the most beloved musicals of all time. I CAN COOK, TOO! Cookbook Supporting theatreWashington's Emergency Fund Now Available

I Can Cook, Too! makes its official debut at 7:30 pm tonight, November 18 at the Beacon Bar & Grill (1615 Rhode Island, NW, Washington DC) as part of theatreWashington's monthly Show Tunes & Cocktails event, featuring musical theatre star Donna Migliaccio and pianist Glenn Pearson. Books can also be purchased online or in person for $20.

I CAN COOK, TOO! Cookbook to Support theatreWashington's Emergency Fund; Out 11/18

theatreWashington today announced the release of I Can Cook, Too! a cookbook that gathers more than 100 recipes from the Washington region's professional theatre artists, technicians, administrators, and leading patrons in support of Taking Care of Our Own, a fund that provides emergency assistance to theatre professionals in need. The full-color, high-quality publication offers recipes in every genre, from cocktails and appetizers to entrees and desserts-with the added spice of personal anecdotes shared by the artists.

Second Annual Summer Hummer Poised to Break Records, 8/19

The all-star Summer Hummer burlesque returns for a second triumphant year, with direction by Eric Schaeffer and performances by the best - and bawdiest - talent that Washington stages have to offer. Last year the event raised more than $16,000 for the Taking Care of Our Ownemergency fund, which provides short-term assistance to Washington-area theatre artists in unexpected need. Building on that success, this year's production features an added performance and an astounding line-up of top performers from Washington and Broadway.

Olney Theatre Center Celebrates 75th Anniversary with Diamond Gala, 3/2

On March 2, 2013, Olney Theatre Center will host the Diamond Gala, a black-tie fundraising event celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Olney Theatre Center. The event will include a cocktail hour, a seated dinner, live musical performances from Olney favorites George Dvorsky (Annie, The Sound of Music), Jessica Lauren Ball (1776, Grease, The Sound of Music, Cinderella), Donna Migliaccio (The Sound of Music, Cinderella), Caitlin Deerin (Annie), Parker Drown (Grease, Cinderella, Spring Awakening), MaryLee Adams (Spring Awakening) and Bobby Smith (Annie, The Sound of Music, Little Shop of Horrors), as well as silent and live auctions. Funds raised from the event will support Olney's artistic and educational programming which reaches over 100,000 audience members a year in Maryland and nationwide.

2013 Helen Hayes Award Nominations Announced!

theatreWashington just announced the 29th Helen Hayes Awards nominees today, January 28th, 2013 in The National Theatre's Helen Hayes Gallery. This year, for the first time, theatre lovers in Washington and around the world were able to watch the nomination announcements live via webcast at theatrewashington.org, Facebook, or on the Livestream. Signature Hosts 'Summer Hummer' Benefit Show for DC Artists, 8/20

Molly Smith Helms THE MUSIC MAN at Arena Stage, 5/11-7/22

Crafty con-man Harold Hill brings mischief and the magic of music to Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater this spring in Meredith Willson's The Music Man. This five-time Tony Award-winning musical is directed by Artistic Director Molly Smith, whose cultural dynamism made Oklahoma! a record-breaking audience favorite last season. With choreography by Parker Esse and music direction by Lawrence Goldberg, The Music Man runs May 11-July 22, 2012 in the Fichandler Stage, with all performances in May already sold out.
