The New York Civil Liberties Union, the New York State affiliate of the ACLU, announced today a star-studded lineup of award-winning performers for its annual benefit concert. "Broadway Stands Up for Freedom" will boast performances by some of Broadway's finest on Monday, July 20, at the NYU Skirball Center for Performing Arts (566 LaGuardia Place). Theatre for a New Audience, Jeffrey Horowitz, Founding Artistic Director, will present four panel discussions entitled 'Celebrating Christopher Marlowe' in conjunction with its epic production now on stage of Marlowe's 1587 Tamburlaine, Parts I and II, edited and directed by Olivier Award-winner Michael Boyd and starring John Douglas Thompson heading a cast of 19 performing 60 roles.

Newly announced for the evening are Charl Brown (Tony nomination, Motown The Musical); Lauren Molina (Rock of Ages, Sweeney Todd); and Andrew Lippa, Tony- and Grammy-nominated composer and librettist of The Addams Family, The Wild Party, and Big Fish, opening on Broadway in October.

New additions include Georgi James, starring on Broadway in Annie; 30 Rock's Todd Buonopane; Rory O'Malley, opening soon in Nobody Loves You at Second Stage; Shaina Taub, featured in the new musical Natasha & Pierre & The Great Comet of 1912; and Godspell alum Grace Capeless.
