The Kilroys calls attention to plays written by female and trans authors that have been judged as being of high quality.

Continuing the fight to achieve gender parity in the American Theater, LA-based playwright/producer collective THE KILROYS has released its third annual list of industry-recommended new plays.

For the second year, Rover Dramawerks is pleased to partner with the playwrights' group 365 Women a Year to present a festival of plays by women, about women, for everyone. This international playwriting coalition, founded by Jesslynn Eisenberg Chamblee, involves playwrights across the world who have signed on to write one or more plays about extraordinary women in both past and present history. The project's ambitious yet focused goal is to write women back into the social consciousness, as well as empower and promote female playwrights, and plant seeds of herstory around the country.

CELEBRATION THEATRE presents as part of its New Works Reading Series, ON THE ROOF by Donna Hoke, directed by Christopher Mikish and performing one night only, Today, April 19 at the West Hollywood City Chambers, 625 N. San Vicente in West Hollywood.   It's 1955-post WWII, amid McCarthyism, years before Stonewall. In this dangerous and difficult era, Mitzi operates a cabaret and gay bar where she, Cruz, a playboy bartender; Levi, an aspiring Broadway composer; Bob, a WWII vet; Mac, a guy who just wants camaraderie with his Coke; and Andy, a newcomer with a law degree struggle to find solidarity and courage-maybe even love.

?A slate of 11 vibrant and kinetic new LGBTQ+ plays and musicals have emerged as Semi-Finalists in Pride Films and Plays' 2016 Great Gay Play and Musical Contest. They come from writers across the United States, and were selected by a reading team from across the country doing blind readings of the manuscripts.

Pride Films and Plays has announced the results of our LezPlay contest. The judges have named five finalists, including a teleplay and four stage plays. and these writers will have their scripts presented as staged readings during LezPlay Weekend, which runs September 11-13 at the Hoover-Leppen Theatre of Center on Halsted.

The Barn Theatre of Montville, NJ will be presenting its 2015 Solstice Showcase, a weekend of original one act plays. Performances will be this weekend, June 12 and 13 at 8pm; and on June 14 at 2pm.

Road Less Traveled Productions has announced its 2015-16 Season to Buffalo theatergoers! Featuring five full regular season theatrical productions and one annual holiday offering, this season will include original work as well as Western New York premieres of work never before produced in the Buffalo area. Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP) is excited to announce The RLTP BETA Program (BETA), a new play development model that provides a collaborative workshop environment for playwrights, theatre students, and faculty, culminating in a fully realized production of new works. BETA launches this year in partnership with Saginaw Valley State University who will host a visiting Western New York playwright while their work-in-progress is produced in conjunction with SVSU students.
