BWW Interview: Playwright Lindsay Joelle Always Making Her Work TRAYF-ier

Geffen Playhouse’s next live production in their Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater, Lindsay Joelle’s TRAYF opens March 10th (with previews already in progress). Maggie Burrows directs the cast of Ilan Eskenazi, Ben Hirschhorn, Louisa Jacobson and Garrett Young. For those unfamiliar with the term “trayf,” Oxford Language dictionary defines trayf as “adjective: (of food) not satisfying the requirements of Jewish law.” I had the opportunity to throw out a few questions to Lindsay amidst her final rehearsals.

City Theatre to Present Dominique Morisseau's PARADISE BLUE

City Theatre has announced the fourth show of its 2021/2022 subscription season, Paradise Blue by Dominique Morisseau, with original compositions by jazz artist Theron Brown. The production is directed by Kent Gash, who was recently named Artistic Director of The Acting Company, based in New York City. 

Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe to Present Staged Reading of SKELETON CREW

Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe is continuing its celebration of Black History Month with a staged reading of Dominique Morisseau’s powerful play, “Skeleton Crew.” The reading, presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc. will take place at WBTT on February 26 at 4 p.m.

Hi-ARTS Artist-in-Residence Friday Lynton Will Present Her Work in East Harlem

Hi-ARTS, New York City's premiere incubator for urban art, recently announced its new cohort of artists-in-residence. The East Harlem nonprofit helps artists — like Radha Blank, Ebony Noelle Golden, Nona Hendryx, Marc Bamuthi Joseph and Dominique Morisseau — develop their works of art into masterpieces, whether they be theater, music dance, visual arts or multi-media.
