The winners of the Directors Guild of America Outstanding Directorial Achievement Awards for 2018 were announced tonight during the 71st Annual DGA Awards at the Hollywood & Highland Center's Ray Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood. Alfonso Cuarón won the DGA's Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film for Roma.

In a concert inspired by adventure and Spanish exoticism, the Columbus Symphony will perform the Spanish Flamenco Festival at the newly renovated Palace Theatre on March 1 and 2. The auditorium of the 1926 historic venue received a six-month, $2.5 million facelift, and was reopened to the public in November 2018. Guest conducted by John Axelrod, musical director of the Royal Seville Symphony Orchestra, the program will feature local flamenco star Griset Damas and the Flamenco Company of Columbus. The full program includes Turina's Danzas fantasticas, Falla's La Vida Breve: Danse Espagnole No. 1, and concludes with the enchanting, rhythmic vitality of Dvo?ak's richly melodic New World Symphony (Symphony No. 9).

16th Street Theater will give a free community performance of Melissa DuPrey's BRUJAJA directed by Miranda Gonzalez to kick-off the 2019 Pop Up New Play Reading Series. Stray Cat Theatre has taken up Leah Nanako Winkler's gauntlet to bring diversity to the stage and assumed the challenge of producing TWO MILE HOLLOW, with Louis Farber directing this madcap excursion into family absurdity and dysfunction. At Tempe Center for the Arts through February 2nd.

Less than a week before the 2019 Sundance Film Festival begins in Park City, the Park City Institute presents Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, Jodi Kantor, at the George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Center, Today, January 18th, 2018, at 7:30 PM. Kantor will discuss how she, along with her colleague, Megan Twohey, broke the story about Harvey Weinstein's alleged sexual abuse of women-in locations as far away as Cannes and Rome, and as nearby as the Stein Ericksen Lodge, in Deer Valley.
