Park City Institute Announces A Week Of Community Outreach With It Gets Better And Members Of San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus

Park City Institute presents The It Gets Better Tour, beginning Tuesday, February 5, 2019, with four days of community programs. The week culminates performance on the Main Stage at the Eccles Center, blending music, theater, and multimedia into - equal parts wit, whimsy, empowerment, and inspiration, blending real stories from gay, lesbian, transgender and straight allies from around the country. The performance will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at 7:30 PM, at the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Center for the Performing Arts in Park City.

"We are looking forward to presenting this week of community programs, leading up to the theatrical experience," said PCI Executive Director Teri Orr. "The it gets better Tour aligns with our mission to connect our community, through the arts. We are looking forward to working with the community, school, and government leaders, students and parents. The week is meant to create greater understanding around empowering gay, lesbian, transgender and straight allies, together."

Throughout the week, members of the It Gets Better Tour and the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus will facilitate round-table discussions with GSA groups from area schools, an anti-bullying assembly at Park City High School, share their personal stories with members of the community, and facilitate a World Cafe conversation about creating greater connections and support for the LGBTQIA community, as well as workshops on Allyship.

It Gets Better Journey: Members of the troupe will give a history of the It Gets Better Project and give a behind-the-scenes look at the theatrical production. Feb 6. 5:30-6:30 pm

LGBTQ Allyship: A workshop for adult participants of all experience levels to understand the difference between gender and sexuality to be effective allies with Q & A session. Feb 7. 10:00-11:30 am.

Tickets for The it gets better Tour performance on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at 7:30 pm, in the Eccles Center, are $29, for every seat in every section of the theater. Members may purchase tickets to any two regular shows in the 2018-19 Main Stage Season, and receive tickets to a third show, free. Membership information may be found on parkcityinstitute.org.
