Goodman Theatre welcomes 11 participants for Criticism in a Changing America a two-part program designed to augment early-career journalists' understanding of how plays live in the wider context of contemporary issues. Beginning this weekend, conversations center around the development of a new play, with participants engaging with the artists of Goodman's 14th annual New Stages Festival (concludes October 8).
The Playwrights Realm, led by Katherine Kovner, Founding Artistic Director, and Roberta Pereira, Producing Director, celebrated its tenth anniversary with the annual Writers Block Party honoring Realm Board Member and award-winning playwright and actor, Anna Deavere Smith. New Jersey will welcome arts service organizations from across the U.S. and Canada to the 35th annual conference of the Association of Performing Arts Service Organizations ("APASO") from May 17th to 19th. The Asbury Hotel in Asbury Park is the host hotel, and events will be held at various locations in Asbury Park, at Two River Theater and the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, at McCarter Theatre Center in Princeton, and at Grounds For Sculpture in Hamilton.

The Dramatists Guild in partnership with the University of Pittsburgh's Department of Theatre Arts, Bricolage Production Company, the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council, Indiana University of Pennsylvania Department of Theater and Dance, and established performers, writers, and directors will host a Town Hall to address the issues of author's rights and equitable casting. The Town Hall is a call-to-action and a response to recent events nationally and locally.
The Drama Book Shop will host celebrate the launch of Theatre World's 69th Volume - the only record of the American theatre season still in print. A book launch, signing, and panel discussion with the editors on 'Theatre Print Media in the Age of the Internet' will be held at the Tony Award winning Book Shop on Friday, December 4, 2015, from 5-7p.m. It is free and open to the public.
