To open its 24th season, First Folio Theatre (Mayslake Peabody Estate, 31st St. & Rt. 83.) will begin with the literary-inspired production SHERLOCK'S LAST CASE, by Charles Marowitz. A threat hangs over the world's most famous detective as he faces an opponent he never expected. This thrilling adventure mixes suspense, humor, and breath-stopping surprises. Directed by Janice L. Blixt, SHERLOCK'S LAST CASE previews October 2-4, opens October 5 and runs through November 3, 2019.

Lifeline Theatre KidSeries Presents LYLE, LYLE, CROCODILE

Lifeline Theatre's KidSeries presents Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, based on the children's book by Bernard Waber, with adaptation by Lifeline Theatre ensemble member Christina Calvit, music and lyrics by George Howe, and directed by Lifeline Theatre ensemble member Amanda Link. While the Primm family is busily moving into their new home on East 88th Street, they are shocked to discover a crocodile in their bathtub! His name is Lyle, he performs tricks, and, oh, he only eats Turkish caviar. The Primm's are quick to welcome Lyle into the family, but not everyone is so thrilled about a crocodile living on the block. Discover the meaning of family in this musical based off the beloved classic by Bernard Waber. This production is recommended for children ages five and up and runs approximately one hour with no intermission.

Lifeline Theatre Extends EMMA

To accommodate ticket demand Lifeline Theatre announces ten added performances of its Jeff Recommended and critically-acclaimed production of Jane Austen's Emma. Adapted by ensemble member Phil Timberlake and directed by ensemble member Elise Kauzlaric. After a successful experiment in matchmaking, Emma Woodhouse is convinced she can do no wrong. So the high-spirited socialite inserts herself in the love lives of everyone around her, meddling despite their wishes, and leaves a tangle of heartbreak in her wake. To restore happiness to her fractured world, Emma must swallow her pride and learn to value the needs of others over her own desires. Navigate the blunders of the heart in this world premiere adaptation of the 1815 romantic comedy by Jane Austen. The production runs approximately two hours with one intermission. The novel is on sale in the lobby.

Teatro Vista announces the world premiere of Stephanie Alison Walker's The Abuelas, a sequel to her acclaimed play The Madres, February 9-March 17, 2019 at Victory Gardens Theater, 2433 N. Set in an Alaskan cabin where Deb, a divorced suburban mom is attempting to reinvent herself as a righteous, liberal avenger is Grizzly Mama -- the final production of Rivendell's 2016 season 'The Body Politic' in which the political is deeply personal. Deb is fresh from the funeral for her recently deceased, famous activist mother. Her daughter, Hannah, is a typical texting teenager - that is, until she discovers the real reason why mom moved them next door to a certain Alaskan presidential candidate. A dark comedy about motherhood, murder and moose.

Rivendell Theatre Ensemble presents the Midwest Premiere of GRIZZLY MAMA

Rivendell Theatre Ensemble (RTE), Chicago's only Equity theatre dedicated to producing new work with women at the core, announces the Midwest premiere of Grizzly Mama by George Brant. The production, directed by RTE member Megan Carney, runs September 8 - October 15, 2016, at Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, 5779 N.
