The Wallis Announces 2018/2019 Music Lineup

Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, a dynamic hub for the lively arts and vital community resource, presents a dozen classical, jazz and contemporary music programs featuring some of the era's most compelling musical artists during the 2018/2019 season. World premieres, programs with thought-provoking social commentary and timeless iconic works are among the offerings.

Springfield's Sangamon Auditorium And UIS Studio Theatre Renamed The UIS PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

Sunday night's performance by famed comedian and television star Jay Leno at Sangamon Auditorium brought not only laughs but news.  Bryan Rives, new director of UIS Performing Arts Services announced to the 1,500 attendees the creation of the University of Illinois Springfield Performing Arts Center. The UIS Performing Arts Center encompasses a variety of venues and programs including Sangamon Auditorium, the intimate UIS Studio Theatre, the UIS Ticket Office and the UIS Performing Arts Education Connections program.

Grammy Winner Diana Krall Comes To The State Theatre In October

Multiple GRAMMY® Award-winning jazz pianist and world-renowned singer, Diana Krall continues with the 4th North American leg of her international “Turn Up The Quiet World Tour” that has visited over 100 cities in Europe and North America thus far.  Included in the tour will be a stop at the State Theatre in Easton on Sunday, October 14th.

Tony Bennett and Diana Krall Release Album 'Love is Here to Stay' Celebrating the Music of Gershwins

Two legendary performers teamed up to release an album ahead of their individual shows this fall at The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory for the Performing Arts. Tony Bennett and Diana Krall celebrate their shared love of the music of George and Ira Gershwin on their new collaborative album, "Love is Here to Stay," set for wide release on September 14. Audiences can see them each perform live on The Hanover Theatre stage. Tony Bennett: 10th Anniversary Performance and Gala is on Friday, September 28 at 7:30 pm and Diana Krall: Turn Up The Quiet World Tour 2018 comes to the theatre on Saturday, October 6 at 8 pm.

Glen Hansard, Norah Jones, Seal, and More to Honor Joni Mitchell on Her 75th Birthday at The Music Center

 The Music Center announced it will present two star-studded concerts, JONI 75: A Birthday Celebration Live at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on November 6 and November 7, 2018, featuring an incredible array of singers and musicians who will honor one of the world's most remarkable artists, Joni Mitchell, on her 75th birthday.  On both nights, Glen Hansard, Emmylou Harris, Norah Jones, Chaka Khan, Diana Krall, Kris Kristofferson, Los Lobos, Graham Nash, Seal, and Rufus Wainwright, will perform songs from all stages of Mitchell's life and career, across the entire oeuvre of her 19 studio albums.  Co-musical directors, providing the musical arrangements for the evenings, are drummer Brian Blade, who recorded three studio albums and toured extensively with Mitchell, and, pianist, composer, arranger producer Jon Cowherd.

Reba McEntire Returns to Host and Perform in This Year's CMA COUNTRY CHRISTMAS

Iconic entertainer Reba McEntire will return for a second year as host of the ninth annual “CMA Country Christmas,” the two-hour music celebration that airs on ABC during the holiday season. Marking her third time performing on the show, a lineup of legendary acts and Country favorites will also take the stage for a night filled with Christmas classics and festive one-of-a-kind collaborations. 

Pasadena POPS Season Finale Brings Two Tony Winners For The Best Of Hit Shows That Traveled From Broadway To Hollywood

Michael Feinstein and the Pasadena POPS close out their popular outdoor summer concert series at the Los Angeles County Arboretum on Saturday, September 8 with Broadway Goes to the Movies. The POPS season finale will provide a quintessential Feinstein experience with some of Broadway's greatest performers recreating songs from hit shows that traveled from 42nd St. to Hollywood. "This program is going to celebrate all the different musical aspects of Broadway and Hollywood," says Feinstein, who has put together a program spanning the Broadway canon from My Fair Lady to The Sound of Music to Jersey Boys. Highlights include "The Impossible Dream," "Can't Take My Eyes off of You," and "There's No Business Like Show Business," among many other beloved showtunes.

The Broadway at Birdland concert series presented the return of Broadway singer/actor Max von Essen in concert last night, July 23. Max von Essen, currently starring in the hit Broadway production of Anastasia, returned with his old fashioned, new show celebrating the best of Broadway and the American songbook. Once again, Billy Stritch was musical director for the evening, with Steve Doyle on bass, Daniel Glass on drums, and Mairi Dorman-Phaneuf on cello.

A Midsummer Night's Jazz Party Comes to the Bickford Theatre

Dan Levinson's Midsummer Night's Jazz Party returns to the Bickford Theatre as part of Summer JazzFest for one night only on Thursday, August 2 at 7:30 pm. For his annual appearance at the popular festival, Levinson dispenses with music scores and stands for a jam session in the tradition of the legendary jazz clubs of the forties and fifties such as Eddie Condon's and Nick's. Joining the popular clarinetist will be Jon-Erik Kellso on trumpet, Harvey Tibbs on trombone, Mark Shane on piano, Rob Adkins on bass, and Paul Wells on drums. And as customary, the concert will be preceded by a food truck picnic.
