Concrete Temple Theatre brings their one-man puppet theatre spectacle, "Geppetto: Extraordinary Extremities" to Catskill's Bridge Street Theatre for three performances November 11-13, 2016. A tale of resilience and adaptation for audiences of all ages, it tells the story of a puppet-maker and recent widower, Geppetto, as he attempts to perform the mythical love story of Perseus and Andromeda without his wife for the first time. During the performance things begin to go haywire, and Geppetto finds himself desperately improvising to overcome the challenges of performing alone while at the same time scrambling to devise new storylines, new characters, and even new limbs for his puppet hero.

Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia will be mounting the award-winning rock musical: SPRING AWAKENING this September, directed by Broadway veteran and new musical theatre program coordinator Kevin Covert. I was lucky enough to sit down with Kevin, hear about his experience at Shenandoah so far and learn about his process working on the rock musical with current theatre students.

Berkeley's Aurora Theatre Company announces the company's new works initiative to promote the creation of forward-looking theater, Originate + Generate. After a successful 10-year run, the Global Age Project festival of new works has evolved and shifted focus from discovery to development, including commissions, workshops, readings, and full productions of new plays. Every year, theater artists will be selected and given the opportunity to create new work via processes of their own devising. They will receive the financial support, resources, and physical space to create works specifically for Aurora's stages. Special consideration will be given to local theater artists. Aurora Theatre Company is pleased to announce that the first O+G two artists are Jonathan Spector with The State of Nature and Beth Wilmurt with Cabaret Olga. During the creation process, audiences will be invited to attend various workshops and presentations as the works are being created as well as a series of pop-up readings by other theater makers.

Aurora Theatre Company continues its 24th season with the World Premiere of LITTLE ERIK. Written and directed by award-winning Bay Area auteur Mark Jackson (The Letters, The Arsonists, Salomania), LITTLE ERIK features Marilee Talkington, Joe Estlack, Wilma Bonet, Greg Ayers, Mariah Castle, and Jack Wittmayer. The Play Company's (PlayCo) 2015-16 Idea Lab features three curated events, November 18 & 28 and December 4, following performances of award-winning, German playwright Maria Milisavljevic's Abyss. The critically acclaimed U.S. premiere, directed by Maria Mileaf, runs through December 6 at Theaterlab, 357 West 36th Street. Writing about Abyss for The New York Times, Ben Brantley praised the 'poetic drama,' as 'genuinely artful...And it will take you places you didn't expect to go.' Speaking about the play's painfully current themes, he said it considers, 'some very topical questions of European national identities in a time of permeable and shifting borders.'

Broadwayworld.com interviewed Renee Philippi about 'The Bellagio Fountain Has Been Known to Make Me Cry.' Philippi is the writer of the show and she also co-directs it with Eric Nightengale. It will be onstage at HERE in New York City from November 27th to December 13th.

As previously announced, the Kennedy Center will present a Barbican and Les Theatres de la Ville de Luxembourg, in association with Toneelgroep Amsterdam, production of ANTIGONE by Sophocles, in a new translation by T.S. Eliot Prize-winning poet Anne Carson from tonight, October 22, through October 25, 2015 in the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater.

Abyss, directed by Maria Mileaf, is a poetic thriller centered on the mysterious disappearance of a young woman. The play exemplifies PlayCo's unique commitment to premiering work from around the world to advance a dynamic, international experience of contemporary theater in New York. Abyss is an exploration of what it means to be an outsider. Speaking about the play Milisavljevic says, "making a new home means finding a new kind of honesty. Otherwise the old lies will follow you."

The cast also includes Obi Abili, Kirsty Bushell, Samuel Edward-Cook, Finbar Lynch, Patrick O'Kane, and Kathryn Pogson.
