Jason Robert Brown, Nellie McKay & More to Perform at Nightlife Awards, 1/27

Tony Award winning composer/performer Jason Robert Brown (The Bridges of Madison County, Parade), MacArthur Genius Bill Irwin (Old Hats, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?), and Recording and Concert Star Nellie McKay (Old Hats, The 3 Penny Opera) have been announced as the first wave of guest stars scheduled to perform at the 2014 Nightlife Awards at The Town Hall on Monday, January 27th at 7 PM. Almost every week hereafter, more guest stars will be announced, and soon after the holidays the winners, who will perform to show why they were chosen -- will finally be announced to the public. The winners will not make acceptance speeches because the Nightlife Awards is the only All-Performance Award Show.

Regina Carter and Nnenna Freelon Set for Royal Conservatory Concert Today

Regina Carter and Nnenna Freelon will replace the previously announced Tony and Grammy winner Dee Dee Bridgewater in today's December 14, 2013 concert celebrating the 90th birthdays of Dinah Washington and Sarah Vaughan. The Royal Conservatory congratulates Ms. Bridgewater on her role in the upcoming off-Broadway production of Lady Day, in which she will portray legendary jazz singer Billie Holiday. The production begins September 12, which is the reason Ms. Bridgewater had to cancel her Conservatory appearance in December.

Last night, 92Y celebrated songwriting legend Mike Stoller on the occasion of his 80th year with An 80th Birthday Celebration, a one-night-only Lyrics & Lyricists Special Event hosted by Paul Shaffer and directed and written by Randy Johnson (director/writer of A Night withJanis Joplin). Performers included: legendary vocal group The Coasters, along with artists Karen Akers,Mary Bridget Davies, Corky Hale, Maria Elena Infantino,Sally Kellerman, Bettye Lavette, Melissa Manchester, Billy Stritch, Tommy Tune and Steve Tyrell. Backed by Tyrell's band, the artists performed some of the greatest songs written by Stoller with his longtime lyricist partner Jerry Leiber and others. LADY DAY to Play Final Performance at Little Shubert Theatre on 1/5

After receiving critical and popular acclaim, "Lady Day," the musical about Billie Holiday, will play its final performance on January 5th at Times Square's Little Shubert Theatre (422 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues). The production starring Dee Dee Bridgewater, started previews on September 19th and played 16 previews; opened on October 3rd and will have played 110 performances by January 5th. Written and directed by Stephen Stahl, the musical is produced by Misty Road Productions.

Anne Tofflemire, Cyrille Aimee & More Set for Birdland,11/18-24

The Broadway at Birdland concert series will present singer Anne Tofflemire in concert on Monday, November 18 at 7pm. Backstage Bistro Award-winning singer Anne Tofflemire returns to New York with her latest show, This Funny World, an evening of popular songs from Rodgers & Hart, Stephen Sondheim, Joni Mitchell, Irving Berlin, Charles Strouse & Lee Adams. Accompanist/music director for the evening will be Ross Patterson. Anne Tofflemire was raised in Northern California, where she starred in the long running San Francisco productions of Side by Side by Sondheim and Rap Master Ronnie. She was discovered by the Academy Award winning lyricist Sammy Cahn, with whom she toured nationally and internationally in his Sammy Cahn: Words and Music. Her other theatre credits include Peter Pan opposite Cathy Rigby, Maria in West Side Story, A Little Night Music, and understudying, as well as going on for Donna McKechnie as Mama Rose in Gypsy. Her cabaret appearances include Town Hall, Firebird Cafe, Delmonico's, and Eighty Eights in Manhattan, the Plush Room in San Francisco, the Gardenia in Los Angeles. Her CD, Let's Face the Music, was released by Harbinger Records.

Tony Award-Winning Producer Paul Boskind to Produce Texas Jazz Singer's Next CD

The number-one male jazz singer in the home of the Alamo has been entertaining San Antonio and South Texas audiences and recording critically acclaimed CDs for more than 23 years. Now Ken Slavin will bring his unique sound to the Big Apple when he makes his New York City jazz cabaret debut on Thursday, October 31, at the world-famous Metropolitan Room, 34 W. 22nd Street. Show time is 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets start at $25 - with a two-drink minimum - and are available at www.metropolitanroom.com.

The new Billie Holiday musical Lady Day starring Tony and multiple Grammy Award-winner Dee Dee Bridgewater, opened last week at the Little Shubert Theatre (422 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues). Written and directed by Stephen Stahl, the musical makes its New York debut having been produced at the Theatre de Boulogne-Billancourt and Theatre du GymnaseMarie Bell in Paris as well as The Donmar Warehouse and The Piccadilly Theatre in London, where it received critical praise and garnered an Olivier 'Best Actress in a Musical' Award nomination for Ms. Bridgewater. China Moses Set for Series of Shows at Ronnie Scott's, 11/4-6

Following her acclaimed Ronnie Scott's debut in 2012, China Moses returns for 3 nights in November. The daughter of jazz legend Dee Dee Bridgewater and director Gilbert Moses, Paris-based China was born in the United States but raised in France. Multi-talented, she is a professional vocalist, songwriter, music producer, and television & radio host. She will be performing material from her fifth studio album, "Crazy Blues", recorded with pianist Raphael Lemonnier, which was released earlier this year.
