Williams Street Repertory is excited to announce the 2016/2017 Season of LAB Series. WSR's LAB Series is dedicated to showcasing new scripts, giving the audience an artist's perspective of the play on-the- page. The goal of the series is to offer a public forum, bringing audiences and theatre artists together to share and discuss a wide range of exciting new work. The company hopes to produce a LAB Series reading as a Mainstage production each year.

The Playwrights' Center today announced its 2014-15 roster of playwriting fellows and new Core Writers, who together will receive more than $200,000 in awards and additional development funds. The Playwrights' Center is an internationally renowned play development center and artist service organization dedicated to supporting the development of playwrights and new plays. Core Writers and fellows are selected by independent panels composed of nationally recognized theater artists and leaders.

As the first official event of Season 3: Reinvention, The New Theatre Project offers the first of many table, concert, and staged readings of never-before-seen work in the New Work Series. As opposed to previous readings happening twice yearly, TNTP will offer them year round in partnership with the Ypsilanti District Library. The season's first reading will be The Aleph Complex by Deborah Yarchun, in competition for the open TBA slot in the mainstage season. The reading will take place on Thursday, August 2 at 8 pm at the Mix Studio Theater.

Samuel French Inc. Off-Off-Broadway Short Play Festival announces the 40 semi-finalists for its 37th annual season. Chosen from over nine hundred submissions by playwriting workshops, university theatre programs, and professional companies both in the U.S. and abroad, these 40 plays will be presented October 23rd-27th with finals on Sunday October 28th at the Beckett Theatre, Theatre Row (410 W. 42nd Street). Out of these plays, six finalists will be chosen by the Samuel French, Inc. editorial staff to receive publication and licensing contracts.
