SAN FRANCISCO, July 20, 2015 – The Merola Opera Program's Summer Festival concludes with its 2015 artists performing in the Merola Grand Finale tonight, August 22 at 7:30 pm at the War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco. Conductor Antony Walker will lead the orchestra and 2015 Merola Apprentice Stage Director Mo Zhou will stage the program, featuring works by Gounod, Bellini, Tchaikovsky, Jake Heggie, Nikolai, Verdi, Rossini, Humperdinck, Mascagni, and Offenbach. The performance is a culmination of the 12-week Merola Opera training program, and all 23 of the 2015 Merola singers will perform, under the coaching and direction of their fellow artists. A special artists' reception follows the Grand Finale (tickets sold separately).

San Francisco, CA August 7, 2015 – San Francisco Girls Chorus Artistic Director Lisa Bielawa has announced details of the 37-year-old, five-time Grammy Award-winning Chorus' 2015-2016 season, which will feature premieres by leading American composers and performances with a variety of noted guest artists. The four-program season runs October 30, 2015 through June 12, 2016 in San Francisco and the East Bay and features premieres by Aaron Jay Kernis, Gabriel Kahane and Theo Bleckmann and guest artists including New York early music ensemble TENET, soprano Deborah Voigt in a special American Christmas program at Davies Hall, cellist Joshua Roman and composer-pianist Timo Andres, all conducted by Music Director Valérie Sainte-Agathe. The season will be preceded by a performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with Venezuela's celebrated Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra and others under the baton of sensational conductor and LA Philharmonic Music Director Gustavo Dudamel September 25 at UC Berkeley's Greek Theatre. At the other end of the season will be the Chorus' return to New York's Lincoln Center in performances of music by Kernis, Kahane, Bleckmann and Bielawa. When it comes to either their signature pop-classical mashups - or their politics for that matter - Well-Strung, The Singing String Quartet, wears its heart on its sleeve. For the first single from their upcoming new album titled 'POPssical', due out in early October, the group debuts their new music video 'Chelsea's Mom' today on YouTube. The video is Well-Strung's inventive take on the Fountains of Wayne hit 'Stacy's Mom', reimagined as a tribute to 2016 Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. The musical arrangement for strings is by Well-Strung with lyrics by Well-Strung, Jeffery Roberson & Jacques Lamarre. The video was filmed by Blake Drummond, edited by Randy Rainbow and was produced by Mark Cortale, Matt Farber and Well-Strung.

A grand, meaningful and operatic evening of music awaits, as Music Director Carl St.Clair leads Pacific Symphony's final concert of his 25th anniversary season, "Fire and Water," a program representing the innovative and defining characteristics of the orchestra. Furthering St.Clair's commitment to new music, the evening includes the world premiere of "Siren Songs" by Laura Karpman, accompanied by video and animation by Tempe Hale, who has used footage from Gregory MacGillivray, Academy-Award nominated cinematographer of films such as "The Living Sea" and "Dolphins." Karpman's piece explores women and the ocean and is based on a set of poems by internationally known poet, Amy Gerstler, who is also a professor at UC Irvine. For the fiery finale, St.Clair leads the orchestra in selections from Wagner's epic "Gotterdammerung," ("Twilight of the Gods"), featuring Metropolitan Opera superstar, Deborah Voigt, who brings her beautiful and powerful voice to Brunnhilde's famous "Immolation Scene."
