Deaf West Theatre is again partnering with the Utah Schools for the Deaf and Blind for the third annual National Deaf High School Theatre Festival, a hybrid-virtual and in-person educational theatrical competition for young Deaf actors across the United States.

Oxford University Press will soon publish Ryan Donovan's Broadway Bodies: A Critical History of Conformity on February 17, 2023.

Sixty-three percent of Deaf consumers say Hollywood perpetuates negative stereotypes about the Deaf community and 82% believe the entertainment industry needs to offer more career support for Deaf Professionals according to a first-of-its kind study released today by NRG in partnership with Deaf West Theatre.

San Francisco Playhouse will continue its 20th Anniversary season with the imaginative and exhilarating hit musical adaptation of William Shakespeare's As You Like It. Director Sidney Lumet followed a string of Oscar®-winning 1970s classics with this lavish adaptation of the popular Broadway musical The Wiz, noted for its lively score and all-Black cast.  The Academy Museum’s first anniversary screening of The Wiz will feature live dance performances by the Debbie Allen Dance Studio youth performers.

Producers Hunter Arnold and Kayla Greenspan announced that Jefferson Mays’ universally celebrated, one man virtuoso, tour-de-force performance in Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol will be coming to Broadway this holiday season for a strictly limited 66-performance engagement at the Nederlander Theatre. Mr. Mays, who is currently performing as Mayor Shinn ten blocks north in The Music Man, will depart that role on October 23rd.

Brian Kite, interim dean of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, announced today that Academy Award-winning actor Troy Kotsur (CODA, Spring Awakening) will deliver the keynote address at the school’s 75th annual commencement ceremony. Writer-director-producer Amy Aniobi will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award. Dean Kite will preside over the event to be held on Friday, June 10, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at UCLA’s Royce Hall.
