Charles Busch and Penny Fuller, who appeared together as bosom buddies Mame and Vera in Auntie Mame at the Bay Street Theatre, will lend their voices to Monahan & Oyen's DIVA: Live From Hell. Busch (The Divine Sister, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife) will voice the manager of the dingy cabaret venue in Hell, where Desmond Channing (played by Monahan) is doomed to perform his torturous act for eternity. Fuller (Sunday in the Park with George, The Elephant Man), who was nominated for a Tony Award for her portrayal of Eve Harrington in the musical Applause, will voice the grandmother of Desmond Channing (loosely inspired by the character of Eve Harrington's nemesis, Margo Channing).

Unstoppable Theater will give audiences a rare glimpse into the Seventh Circle--Hell's dingiest cabaret venue--as it presents Sean Patrick Monahan in Monahan & Oyen's DIVA: LIVE FROM HELL, a devilish new musical directed by Daniel Goldstein (Godspell) that charts a high school musical nerd's descent into madness, March 23rd - April 9th at Theater for the New City's Community Space Theater.

Leading theater production company The Araca Group today announced plans to bring the classic television series Family Ties to the stage, to be adapted by playwright and recent Kleban Award winner Daniel Goldstein.

Bob Weir's “Only A River,” taken from his forthcoming solo album Blue Mountain, premieres on NPR's All Songs Considered. Blue Mountain, out on September 30, marks Weir's debut project since signing with Sony Music Entertainment's Columbia/Legacy and ROAR. Founding Executive Director Kathy Evans announced the 19 writers and 9 new musicals selected for this summer's Rhinebeck Writers Retreat residencies.  For nine consecutive weeks beginning June 26, each writing team will have a weeklong residency in Rhinebeck, New York to write their new musical. This year's writers include New York Drama Critics award winner Brian Crawley, Tony nominee Hunter Foster, 2016 Kleban award winner Daniel Goldstein, Susan Smith Blackburn finalist Michele Lowe, Arlen award winner Georgia Stitt, Fred Ebb award winner Adam Gwon, and New Dramatists Loewe Award winner Sarah Hammond. The 9 musicals were selected from among 95 applicants by a distinguished panel: Kent Nicholson of Playwrights Horizons, Donna Lynn Hilton of Goodspeed Musicals, Barbara Pasternack of Theatreworks USA, Steve Stettler of Weston Playhouse, Mara Isaacs of Octopus Theatricals, Drama Desk nominated composer Neil Bartram, and Robert Zukerman, former Director of Theatre at the New York State Council on the Arts. 

Seaglass Theatrical will stage an invite only industry presentation of the new musical A Dog Story directed by Daniel Goldstein (Godspell). The musical written by Eric H. Weinberger (book) and Gayla D. Morgan (music/lyrics) and musical direction by Emily Marshall will take place on April 21, 2016 at 2PM at the Davenport Black Box Theatre (West 45th Street).

The Kleban Foundation recently announced the winners of its 26th annual Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre lyricist -- Stacey Luftig -- and its 26th annual Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre librettist -- Daniel Goldstein. Since its inception, Kleban Prize winners have been selected by judging panels comprised of the theatre's most respected artists and administrators. The judges making the final determination this year were two-time Tony Award-winning actress Judith Ivey, Michael Price (Former Executive Director, Goodspeed Musicals), and Andrew Zerman (Casting Director and Vocal Coach).
