MELISSA ERRICO: SING THE SILENCE, SONGS OF WOMEN'S SECRET LIVES CO-WRITTEN BY ADAM GOPNIK

Melissa Errico returns to Joe's Pub with Sing the Silence, an entirely new, autobiographical cabaret show, written with Adam Gopnik. Sing the Silence is about how Errico's descent into a hundred days of total silence compelled her to inventory a lifetime of experience on stage and off. In the show, Errico mediates on the role that silence, imposed and chosen, plays in the lives of girls and women. The set list will include songs by women songwriters such as Georgia Stitt, Marcy Heisler, Jonatha Brooke, Susan Werner, Patricia Barber, Laura Nyro, Joni Mitchell and Dorothy Parker. Sing the Silence also features new original music, including the title song written for Errico by Gopnik and Scott Frankel, and the New York debut of music by Jeanine Tesori. There is also a sprinkling of the classic American songbook by Cole Porter, Rodgers & Hart, Sondheim and Mary Rodgers. Sing The Silence promises to be Errico's most personal and soulful performance.

Singer-songwriter Dawn Landes has been writing songs for most of her life, and already has more than a decade of experience as a professional producer and engineer. Her new album Bluebird was produced in collaboration with good friend Thomas Bartlett (The National, Sharon Van Etten, Rufus Wainwright, Antony and the Johnsons and more), and features contributions from Tony Scherr, Rob Moose and Norah Jones. Bartlett's partan production keeps the vibe intimate, making it easy to connect with these naked and honest songs, which manage to rise above the context in which they were written. In the end, the fact that Bluebird is Landes' way of processing the overwhelming emotions she dealt with after her divorce doesn't matter - there are two sides to every story, and this is hers.

Ever wonder what it's like to have a dreamy job? Comedian Catie Lazarus did too, so she created a candid, fun talk show about work. Her guests for the November installment are David Cross (Comedian, Arrested Development, Mr. Show), Greta Gerwig (Actor, Frances Ha, Mistress America) and Sadie Dupuis (Singer, Speedy Ortiz). The New York Times called the show "beloved" and The New Yorker says, "her line of inquiry is decidedly unorthodox." Lazarus builds each show with great care, inviting guests from every walk of life, like Gloria Steinem, Taylor Schilling, Stephen Dubner, Lewis Black, Jill Abramson, Rachel Maddow, Josh Katz (former CIA agent), Lin-Manuel Miranda and Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog. Never Sleep Alone is an interactive comedy and music show starring sex and dating Coach Dr. Alex Schiller. "Singles" mix in the front and become active participants in the show, joining Dr. Alex on stage for blind dates and interactive demonstrations "Voyeurs" watch from the back, and everyone sings along as the provocative and irreverent Dr. Alex leads her audience through a deliriously funny and wildly entertaining evening. The night continues at an after-party at a nearby club, giving you the opportunity to apply the lessons you've learned at the show on sexy strangers. Fresh from touring the West Coast with Neil Young, singing activists Reverend Billy & The Stop Shopping Choir return with their new show The Earth Wants YOU! The choir will mark their residency with the release of a new album, Resist Extinction, premiering ten new songs on November 1. Directed by Savitri D, with musical direction by Nehemiah Luckett, the choir represents a diverse array of economic, ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds - scientists, teachers, therapists, artists, builders, dog walkers, actors, writers and executives. The core of their work is its activism, which is the source material for their output. The group has been arrested many times, especially with Occupy Wall Street and Black Lives Matter, and are now working to ban the Monsanto herbicide "Roundup," which is sprayed in NYC parks and is carcinogenic.

Toshi Reagon is a singer, musician, composer, producer and curator. She has been described by Vibe Magazine as "one helluva rock'n'roller-coaster ride" and by Pop Matters as "a treasure waiting to be found. Reagon is a one-woman celebration of all that's dynamic, progressive and uplifting in American music." Her music has been featured in film and television plus she has collaborated with several dance companies including Urban Bush Woman, Jane Comfort and LAVA. She is the founder of WORD*ROCK*&SWORD: A Festival Celebration of Women's Lives, an annual eight-day festival in New York City. She curates several events including her annual GoodFolk series with Joe's Pub and the Schomburg Center for Black Research in Black Culture's Women in Jazz Festival. Her band, BIGLovely, includes Fred Cash, Adam Widoff, Bobby Burke, Marcelle Davies Lashley and Stephanie McKay.

The Meeting* hosted by Justin Sayre, the acclaimed comedy/variety show hailed as "rambunctious, uproarious and unpredictable" by The Wall Street Journal, has returned to its downtown roots this year for another season of shows. Each month, Sayre's International Order of Sodomites (I.O.S.) gathers to honor an artist or a cultural work that is iconic to the gay community. Sayre is the show's creator, writer and host, serving as the Chairman of the Board of the I.O.S. The November 22 show is a tribute legendary composer Billy Strayhorn for his centennial.

Internationally recognized author and spoken word artist Shane Koyczan has emerged as a creator of poetry that dares to belong to the people and speak directly to them in their own voice. In 2013, he collaborated with animators to make the anti-bullying viral video "To This Day" which has had over 13 million views, and he performed a customized version "For the Bullied and the Beautiful" to acclaim at the 2013 International TED Conference in Long Beach, California. Shane shapes his words and delivers in multi mediums from authored, video, spoken word, operatic, and musically performed.

If you thought modern country music had officially expired and was just stuck in a loop making lyrical references to the likes of John Deere, cheap whiskey and Bud Light beer cans, think again. As Ivy, Beck & Neill, Trisha Ivy, Mike Beck and Amanda Simpson Neill have taken pages from classic country figures like Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris and Johnny Cash, added a modern flare reminiscent of The Dixie Chicks, and brought it all home with songs covering the miles from Nashville to Brooklyn and back again. Their debut Live at Rockwood Music Hall is filled with tales of tender blue-eyed soul, murder balladry, ill-fated lovers, the possibilities of redemption and the wealth of pure joy. It's a record that dives into the red dirt of the raw side of humanity with just a guitar, a length of chain, and a handful of harmonies to guide the way.

In 1976, paranoid and coked to the gills, David Bowie grabbed his favorite junkie, Iggy Pop, and headed to Berlin to "sober up." Joined by Brian Eno and Tony Visconti, the mission (in Europe's heroin capital) was a bit of a bust, but the music was anything but. Billy Hough and Susan Goldberg have created an all-new "Scream Along with Billy" extravaganza for their return to Joe's Pub, based on this remarkable epoch. "IDIOT/HEROES" explores this explosive period through the music it created: from Bowie, LOW (1977), HEROES (1977) and LODGER (1979); from Iggy THE IDIOT (1977) and LUST FOR LIFE (1977); with some of Eno's BEFORE AND AFTER SCIENCE (1977) thrown in for fun. "IDIOT/HEROES" will also recreate Bowie's provocative and groundbreaking 1979 appearance from Saturday Night Live with Joey Arias and Klaus Nomi.

Wallace Roney, himself, is historic. He is the only trumpeter that was personally taught by Miles Davis. Miles was his teacher and mentor for close to 10 years. In the historic performance at Montreux Jazz Festival, Wallace performed with Miles - a performance which is listed as one of the top 20 most important events in music history. Mr. Roney is heralded as an "improviser who loves complicated almost mathematical lines and who performs with catlike grace" by the New York Times, trumpeter, composer and bandleader Wallace Roney is one of the most exciting and innovative musicians on the creative music scene. His consummate artistry and eagerness to explore and transcend musical boundaries has led him to collaborate with such diverse musicians as Art Blakey, Miles Davis, Carole King, Ornette Coleman, Sonny Rollins, Prince, Herbie Hancock and Joni Mitchell, among numerous others.

Revolutionary art-rock, new-wave goddess Hendryx is a celebrated vocalist, record producer, songwriter, musician and author. Tackling social issues, love and politics, Hendryx's legendary career spans six decades of sound and style evolution. Longtime fans know her as a founding members of Patti LaBelle & the Bluebelles in which their tight harmonies (spiced with LaBelle's soaring gospel tinged lead vocals) served up a mix of modern hits, beautiful standards, and soulful covers of songs such as "Over the Rainbow." Morphing into the groundbreaking group Labelle, they delivered the inescapable "Lady Marmalade."
