John C. Breckenridge, President and CEO of Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS), announced today the nominations and presenters for TUTS' ninth annual Tommy Tune Awards which will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. Developed by TUTS, the Tommy Tune Awards honor musical theatre excellence at the high school level. Presenters this year will include Houston-area native, Humphreys School of Musical Theatre (HSMT) graduate and cast member in Broadway's revival of La Cage Aux Folles, Logan Keslar. Also presenting will be last year's Tommy Tune Award winner for Best Leading Actress, Stephanie Styles. To complete the evening, the ceremony's namesake, Tommy Tune, will be a special guest presenter for one of the awards.

From 30 September 2009, a new cast of actors and puppeteers will join the National Theatre?s award-winning West End hit War Horse which is currently playing to packed houses at the New London Theatre. The National?s sell-out production of Nick Stafford?s adaptation of Michael Morpurgo?s book which transferred to the West End in March this year, has recently welcomed its 100,000th visitor to the New London Theatre. In June this year 150,000 new tickets were released for sale, taking bookings up to 12 February 2010.

Part Indie Rock aficionado, part dive-bar junky, the play follows Peter and his cohorts over the course of a 24 hour period as the past comes back, the future seems boring and The Now wins out. Only today, in the rapidly changing playground of Williamsburg, could a play written in 2003 then produced in 2009 be considered a PERIOD PIECE, but that's exactly what this new production of STRAIGHT ON TIL MORNING is.
The Houston Chapter of the American Marketing Association has recognized Theatre Under The Stars as Houston's 2008 Marketer of the Year in the Performing Arts category. The Marketer of the Year award recognizes Houston companies, organizations, and institutions for their outstanding marketing efforts.
Best of category winners will be recognized and presented their awards at a reception to be held at 5:30 p.m. on March 2, 2009 in the Alley Theatre's Hubbard Stage. At this event, the company selected by an out of state panel of judges to be Houston's overall 2008 Marketer of the Year will be announced. All best of category winners are in competition for this honor.

The new UK musical Daydream Believer, based off of the story of 60's pop group The Monkees has now been cancelled. Today the show's producers stated, 'It is with regret that, due to unforeseen circumstances, the production of Daydream Believer has been cancelled for the foreseeable future.' Rumor has been circulating that it is because of poor initial ticket sales.
The world premiere of the new musical Daydream Believer will take place at the Theatre Royal Plymouth where will it play a limited run starting on August 26th and run through September 6th.
