BWW Review: THE 'GREAT' AMERICAN TRAILER PARK MUSICAL Returns to CCTC
by Kristen Morale
- Sep 28, 2015
After an exciting summer season, Harwich Junior Theater, now a part of the Cape Cod Theatre Company, continues its sixty-forth season with a revival of its start-of-summer hit, The Great American Trailer Park Musical, bringing back a majority of its original cast that once made (and hereby continues to make) this show quite the adventure to embark on. To call it a revival, though, really does not do what is currently happening on that stage justice, as the cast and creative team has thus come together again to create a show that is even more powerful and more hilarious than what I remember; it is essentially a new show. The success and beauty of the first production, though, made me more than happy to provide a second review of the show, but the prospect of sitting through it again (even though I am now pretty familiar with the show) made me quite willing to make my way to CCTC once again.
BWW Review: TRAILER PARK Trashes Gleefully!
by John James DeWitt
- Aug 19, 2015
The final installment of STAGEright's "Find Your Light" season is the uproarious white-trash lampoon, THE GREAT AMERICAN TRAILER PARK MUSICAL, by Betsy Kelso and David Nehls. Concerning the rather sordid lives of several denizens inhabiting a southern Florida trailer park, the show touches on as many hilarious stereotypes as it can cram into its 95-minute length. From double-wide mobile homes and mullet haircuts to stripper bars and pole dancing, it's all there… about the only thing missing was pimento cheese on toasted Wonder bread. Featuring an appealing cast under the direction of Jay D. Irwin and with music direction by Josh Zimmerman, the show is a toe-tapping, crowd-pleasing diversion for a sultry August evening.
BWW Reviews: NYMF's SINGLE WIDE is Heartwarming Despite Unintentional Camp
by David Clarke
- Jul 28, 2015
My favorite thing about attending NYMF is the fact that I truly never know what to expect from the works I see there. Walking into SINGLE WIDE, I was expecting a completely irreverent musical soiree along the lines of David Nehls and Betsy Kelso's THE GREAT AMERICAN TRAILER PARK MUSICAL. Instead, I was treated to a nearly complete project with a heartwarming story that was as wholesome as it was entertaining.

BWW Reviews: THE GREAT AMERICAN TRAILER PARK MUSICAL is a Sublimely Silly Evening
by Frank Benge
- Jun 15, 2015
THE GREAT AMERICAN TRAILER PARK MUSICAL is a two-act musical, written by David Nehls and Betsy Kelso. Set in the Armadillo Acres Trailer Park in Florida, it is a great big musical Valentine to trailer trash. The main story concerns Pippi, a stripper on the run, who comes between the agoraphobic Jeannie, and her tollbooth-collector husband Norbert. You won't find any deep message waiting for you here in this tale narrated by the three trailer park residents Betty, Lin and Pickles; but you will find a lot of laughs, some great voices and a terrific evening of cartoonish, escapist fun.

Audiences have no doubt been telling wondrous tales about The Great American Trailer Park Musical which, simply put, treats audiences to one doozy of a show.
