The Costa Mesa Playhouse closes its 51st season with the campy spoof "The Great American Trailer Park Musical," playing June 4 through July 3. With music and lyrics by David Nehls and book by Betsy Kelso, "The Great American Trailer Park Musical" began its journey as a series of staged readings and workshops, followed by a sold-out run at The New York Musical Theatre Festival in 2004, which led to a 2005 Off Broadway run. A Christmas-themed sequel followed.

There's a new tenant at Armadillo Acres-and she's wreaking havoc all over Florida's most exclusive trailer park. When Pippi, the stripper on the run, comes between the Dr. Phil-loving, agoraphobic Jeannie and her tollbooth collector husband-the storms begin to brew. This show contains crude language, adult situations, ugly wigs, adultery, bad perms, spray cheese, tacky outfits, road kill, hysterical pregnancy, kleptomania, and strippers. With music set to country rock, gospel, blues and disco, it's everything a trash-talking musical should be.

"The Great American Trailer Park Musical" is directed by Cathy Petz, with musical direction by Stephen Hulsey and choreography by Fernando Cardenas. It stars Elizabeth Bouton, Jon Sparks, Erin Miller, Jonathan Haidl, Shannon Page, Emily Price, and Montica Kirsch.

Performances are Fridays & Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 2pm, with one Saturday 2pm matinee on July 2. Tickets for the June 4 opening night Gala, which includes a post-show reception, are $22 general admission and $20 for students and seniors 60 or over. For all other performances, tickets are $20 and $18. Groups of 10 or more are $13 each. Reservations can be made at www.costamesaplayhouse.com or by calling 949-650-5269. The playhouse is located at 661 Hamilton Street in Costa Mesa.
