Palo Alto Players Opens BIG FISH Tonight

Palo Alto Players opens its 84th season with the West Coast premiere of the colorful and stirring musical, Big Fish (based on the novel by Daniel Wallace and the Columbia Motion Picture written by John August). With music & lyrics by Andrew Lippa and book by John August, this tender tribute to family and the magic of storytelling is a feast for the eyes, as well as the heart. Big Fish will play for 11 performances (September 12-28, 2014) at the Lucie Stern Theater, located at 1305 Middlefield Road in Palo Alto.

Yoshi's Sets Record of 32 Club Shows in 35 Days

For the June print calendar (June 2 - July 6) Yoshi's San Francisco aka 'YSF' has reached an all-time record with '32' club concerts in 35 days. While the foundation remains jazz, bookings in the R&B / Funk and Country / Rock genres continue to increase. Ray Anderson, Sarah Weaver To Perform THE POINT BEING, SLIDERIDE, 2/23

In a new dynamic collaboration, Ray Anderson and Sarah Weaver pose the great question, 'What is the point of being'? in a large-ensemble piece that explores the primary, universal concern of metaphysics through metaphorical, existential, humorous, emotional, and multidimensional perspectives. Featuring a powerhouse ensemble comprised of some of the finest improvisational performers today, The Point Being aspires to move from inner awareness to inner peace, and on then to a more peaceful world. The Point Being is presented with support from the Faculty in the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (FAHSS) Research Initiatives Fund, Stony Brook University.

BWW Interviews: 3 IN 30: WHITE ELEPHANT to Deliver Three Overlooked Plays

The 3 IN 30: WHITE ELEPHANT showcase, which will be performed 10:30 p.m. Dec. 13 and Dec. 14, at the MadLab Theatre, could easily be called the 'leftoverture.' The showcase, which features three 10 minute plays by area playwrights, presents works that just missed the cut of previous 3 in 30 productions.
