The 49th Annual Nashville Film Festival continues its rollout of film announcements with the seven selected Documentary Special Presentations that include the World Premiere of James Keach's Turning Point. Music journeys will also be depicted in The King, starring Alec Baldwin, Tony Brown, Chuck D, Emmylou Harris, Ethan Hawke and Radney Foster, It All Begins with a Song and Sammy Davis Jr.: I've Got To Be Me, starring Sammy Davis Jr., Harry Belafonte, Tony Bennett, Diahann Carroll, Billy Crystal and Quincy Jones. The 2018 Documentary Special Presentations will also include the Tennessee Premiere of Hal, starring Jane Fonda, Jeff Bridges, Jon Voight, Judd Apatow and Rosanna Arquette and the Southeast US Premiere of One Vote starring Warren Buffett. Exactly ten years after closing on Broadway, Boy George's TABOO returned to New York for a very special two-night-only engagement benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The concert starred Matthew Rowland (Boy George) and Samuel Buttery (Leigh Bowery), both of whom reprised their performances from the 2012 revival of TABOO at the Brixton Clubhouse in London. Jeremy Kushnier (Footloose, Jersey Boys, Jesus Christ Superstar) took on the role of 'Philip Sallon.' In the video below, original 'Big Sue' Liz McCartney sings 'Talk Amongst Yourselves.' (more...)

Barbara Cook & Charles Isherwood Team Up for Cook Memoir

HarperCollins announced today the acquisition of a currently untitled memoir by Barbara Cook, the noted actress, singer, and concert performer. Cook's collaborator will be New York Times theater critic Charles Isherwood. The world rights deal was negotiated by Jonathan Burnham, Senior Vice President and Publisher, Harper, and Rakesh Satyal, Senior Editor, Harper; Cook's manager, Jeff Berger at Jeff Berger Management; and Isherwood's agent, David Kuhn at Kuhn Projects. The book will be published in the fall of 2012, the year of Cook's eighty-fifth birthday. (more...)
