With many performances already sold out, Island City Stage has extended it's run of the musical 'Altar Boyz' through February 23.

Having saved souls on the Ohio bingo-hall-and-pancake-breakfast circuit with rousing songs such as 'Jesus Called Me on My Cell Phone' and 'God Put the Rhythm in Me', the Altar Boyz, Matthew, Mark, Luke, Juan and Abraham, have taken their heavenly boy-band act on the road and are making a final stop in sinful Wilton Manors. 

Anna is having a crazy evening; she's desperately trying to get ready for a first date with a woman from her yoga class while her best friend Mal is pre-occupied with potential suitors from his Bandit Guy app who keep mysteriously showing up at her door. That's just the beginning of Lane Stanley's 'Lipstick', a sweet, silly farce with a heart of gold and drawer full of sex toys!

"Starmaker", the new play by Michael Leeds having its world premiere at Island City Stage imaginatively explores the supernova career of Rock Hudson, an incredibly handsome, but closeted, sailor who craved stardom. Henry Willson was a homely, openly gay, larger than life agent who groomed him and created a star. Hollywood dubbed them "beauty and the beast" but with Rock's looks and Henry's ruthless ambition, they reached the pinnacle of success. Then Henry fell in love with his creation and a life of lies led to final credits neither would have written.

So well written by Gail Louw, so well directed by Keith Garsson and so movingly performed by Lourelene Snedeker. A triumph.
